I’ve noticed with social media(Facebook) I get sensory over load. Within a few minutes of being on it I feel fatigued, anxious. It also happens when I’m not interacting with people much. Does anyone else feel like this? What is it about social media that does this?

IMO it’s a myth that people with an ASD don’t like fiction. There may be a statistical leaning towards this, but I know several with an ASD who like fiction. Personally though I struggle reading fiction or stories in general as I struggle understanding what is going on. I used to collect comic books...

Can ASD’s effect ones ability to take in written or numerical information? I’ve noticed I struggle taking in written and numerical information, not just taking it in but understanding it, also being overwhelmed by what I’m seeing. I find it confusing, Also taking in written instructions difficult. I...

With regard to the economics example, I think the problem may be that you don't have a sufficient grasp of the component concepts for the example to make sense. No amount of re-reading will make it intelligible if you don't grasp the components. Does that make sense? That’s possible. Although It ha...

Do you find you want to fall asleep while you try to read and comprehend it? I'm just wondering how similar the issue is to my own comprehension issues. I'm seeing similarities but I'm not sure... No, but I can feel fatigued when reading. I’ve put that down to the white background, I have similar i...

I’ve been trying to read something about economics. My brain doesn’t understand it at all, it’s like I’m confused and can’t grasp what is being said. Doesn’t matter how many times I read it I don’t get it. Im confused, don’t understand what’s being said. I’m trying to understand what it is? This hap...

Any time I watch a film I struggle understanding what's going on, the plots and sub plots usually a hard for me to pick up on. Does anyone else have this problem? Why is this? Is it a ASD thing? Well, all you really need to know, and this works for virtually every fiction film: there's a protagonis...

Lateness makes me very anxious. If I arrange something and they aren’t on time my anxiety gets pretty bad. I’ve had panic attacks when it doesn’t go as planned and can ruin my day completely.

Very good article. One thing that it did not mention however, which I experience often, is sensory looping. For example, if I touch a texture that I am sensitive to, even after I stop touching it, I will continue to feel that sensation of that texture on my skin sometimes for a long time. And somet...
