Frankly, I don't see anything "autistic" about jumping to music. If this were an "autistic" characteristic, then every West Indian is autistic. I do this too but I agree it’s not an autistic trait. People these days will look to anything “abnormal” as “proof” of their “autism”.

Up until this point I never heard of an adult pursuing an autism diagnosis that didn’t get the diagnosis. It must be super rare for that to happen.

My state offers a disabled state ID card. My designation is D20, with D for developmental disability, 2 meaning it prevents me from working for a living, and 0 meaning I can walk 200 feet without help. It also says “disabled” in the bottom right hand corner.

Did you pay for the online assessment? What were the doctor's credentials? If she has accreditation for autism assessments, and those credentials are accepted where you live, it should be fine. Normally the proper credentials will be a PsychD or PhD psychologist / neuropsychologist, as opposed to b...

I'm surprised, too that ICD is used in the US. I'm European and we use ICD, so mine was F8450 (Asperger's).
Plus two more

In the US we use the ICD for medical coding. Mine is F84.0 Autistic Disorder.

I've often wondered if this is as good as it gets. Being severely multiply disabled, taking psychotropic medications that make me feel numb, living in a group home, being obese. But then, I look on the bright side, and I look at what is going right. I just got a job that's a perfect fit that's only ...

Before the pandemic my parents got mail. It was about me. It said that my family qualifies for respite for me. I'm not sure what that is or why my family would want that. Respite is when someone looks after you for part of the time so your parents can have a break because it's a lot of work raising...

I was curious if anybody else on here has this problem: For as long as I can remember, I have been intensely bothered by the feeling of exhaled breath on my skin. The very fact of one being autistic does not affect my impression of a person.

If a person with autism is nasty, the person is nasty.

I set out to pick just 1 or 2 options but as I went down the list they all seemed pretty equal for me, so I failed and checked all. Sorry, I ruin statistics  .

I checked all too because my autism is such that I can't pull apart the symptoms.
