Some do, some don't. It's best to accept yourself as you are if you can't change yourself. But for some this is more difficult than it is for others.

An abusive ex-partner isn't worth your grief. Move on. Definitely avoid all sorts of contact with her.

I know this probably makes you mad, but the sad fact is that most people have no interest in hearing about your problems because they have their own problems that are just as bad or worse. That's where a good shrink comes in or a really good close friend who cares about you (which are really hard t...

I never used accommodations. With the exception of my final year in high school where I didn't have to do a long term group assignment. All other assignments that I couldn't handle like speaking exercises I just got a flatout zero for though. Still got my degree in the end, but it was tough. After t...

Being bitter is just sad and won't get you anywhere. Only by being positive will your life improve.

Find a diagnostic centre for people with autism (normally they diagnose other conditions as well). My testing and official diagnosis cost around €750. I have no clue how much it will cost in the US.

Just going to put this out there: being disabled does not mean you are protected against criticism and mockery, especially if you're a journalist. It's hypocritical to criticize someone for his opinions and simultaneously complain because he did the same to someone else. In fact I'd be offended if s...

Just make sure that she understands that stealing is wrong. But from what I'm reading it seems she already does so that's good. I wouldn't intervene just because I know from experience that making and keeping friends is really, really hard when you have ASD. Also she's 18 so she can choose her own f...

I like animals. Especially furry ones like cats, dogs, mice and hamsters. They tend to be a lot more affectionate and less demanding than most humans. I also like the sense of accomplishment in succesfully taking care of a pet. Sort of like being a parent, but different. I hope to get my own apartme...

I did feel suicidal at one point. I never thought I would make it past the age of 18. However I also assumed that I would have to take care of myself my whole life. Now it's looking like the state will look after me since my parents abandoned me. At least I hope it will. Long waiting lists and uncer...

I'm currently hospitalized so that sort of limits my freedom and I can't do things I'd like to do, like taking care of pets. I want to study as well but I can't because of a noisy roommate. It sucks but until I get my own apartment I'll have to endure it. Just think about things you'd like to do, th...

What exactly about going to school is stressful for you? Stress can be a good or a bad thing, the key is to manage it well so it doesn't affect you in a negative way.

Stop with the meds if you feel confident that you can do without. I can almost guarantee that you will see a major improvement within days. I quit myself a few weeks ago, withdrawal was rough but only lasted two weeks. Only a day or three after I quit I noticed a difference. That's my two cents.
