The 1980s were good for me. The thing I remember most about that decade is my beautiful cat, Samantha. She was born in 1979 and lived to be 20 years of age.

When I was growing up, that was indeed very stressful. I put those same standards on myself. I now am thankful for it because, had I not been held to high standards or expected high standards from myself, I probably wouldn't have made even the modest progress I made over the past few years.

A good Toastmasters meeting. I gave a speech last night that was evaluated favorably, although I think I could have practiced it a lot more. All in all, a productive meeting and, most important of all, a safe trip to the meeting and back, something I never take for granted.

Most of my teachers liked me, because I was a good student, particularly in English and languages. Academically, I did well. My greatest problems were with the other kids. I learned, years later, that some people did want to be my friends, but I was too dumb to notice. I'm making up for that now.
