I am not convinced the people involved will be punished. I have posted a number of instances where the community rallies around the person(s) who abused autistic people while the autistic or their family are not believed because the abuser(s) are viewed as good people, while the autistic and their ...

It might be a coincidence but a substantial majority of articles I have linked to describing abusive treatment of autistics have come out of Australia lately. I am not purposely trying to shame Australia, these type articles for whatever reason has come up when I google "autism" . Do you ...

Thanyou so much everyone for all your helpful replies. It's helped me take a breath and look at things properly instead of just focusing on my sadness. I did get very involved in looking after both my mum and dad when they were Ill. I've since lost both. I've always had a problem with iscolating mys...

As an aspie and a mum of aspies you can imagine what I'd like to do to this guy.

Shows how completely lacking in knowledge of autism the Australian general public is when the people we're trusting our children too have no f*****g idea.
I'm embarrassed as an Australian. :(

How are you supposed to feel good about yourself when for years not one person apart from your husband and kids ( and they sort of have to) have shown even the slightest bit of interest in you. No phone calls, no messages and definitely no visits or invites. I even have quite a large amount of relat...

I went to watch my son play sport,so on the way I worked out who would be there Id have to "chat" to, then worked out what I could ask them to show I'm interested in them.
Wish this came naturally but I either normally go mute or blurt out something random.

I didn't start taking any meds till I was an adult but since, I have probably taken most anxiety or antidepressant meds available. About five years ago I was prescribed both seroquel and cymbalta for borderline personality disorder. End of last year I stopped taking the seroquel colled turkey, which...

No wonder I've had trouble feeling like I belong anywhere.

I can only speak from own experiences. I don't believe that "aspie traits" are different in males and females, I believe it's more to do with how we show those traits to the world. My son was diagnosed 18 years ago, yet it's only been in the last year after my son came across some info on ...

Unfortunately no insurance. We were renting so wasn't our house and owner happened to be uncontactable overseas on holiday. Good thing that came out of it was that I'd pretty much given up on the outside world thinking there was no nice people out there, yet when this happened to us complete strange...
