That sounds exciting. My son was very excited to go to Belgium and meet his online girlfriend (his first) a couple of months ago.

My son and I are both AS, and we often annoy each other. Fortunately, he now has a long-distance girlfriend to monologue to.

I definitely come across as eccentric, but probably not diagnosable by a nonprofessional. So I'd wait a while, till I was sure she liked me for my weird self, before explicitly telling her.

I told my girlfriend after about a month, when it was very clear that she was really into me.

I'm misanthropic, too. I'm either bored or annoyed by most people. But I don't endlessly complain about it. That would do no good to anyone, including myself.

A dog is an excellent companion, but is in no way equivalent to a girlfriend.

I'd say you need new parents. Or at least stop listening to the ones you have.

I thought the overall film was rather formulaic, but the depiction of an autistic charcter was much better than most.

It's certainly possible, but be aware that you're falling in love with an online persona, not the complete person.

In 3rd grade, at age 10, I was tied to a chair with duct tape over my mouth. I would have hoped that this sort of thing existed only in the past.

I'm a "single parent" in that I have almost all the responsibility for my two kids and their mom is almost never around, though I also have a partner who does not live with me. How do I feel about it? It's hard, in terms of energy, emotions, finances, and everything else. My autistic trait...

It happened to me sometimes when i was younger. I have no idea why. Probably because my expression and mannerisms seemed "off," which to them was suspicious.

Once when I was out with associates this one guy who has functioning aspergers said to me "It's really obvious you have autism by your mannerisms" and he kept saying to me "You need to conform"

Do you think he's being ignorant or just trying to give me helpful advice?

Both.

For me, I'd say it's the opposite: physical attractiveness matters if I already find your personality attractive. In other words, if I like your mind, I'd like to talk with you and maybe be friends. If I also have a physical attraction to you, then I might be interested in more. (If I were single, w...

Apologies. Recently, was in a very dark place mentally and I prematurely said goodbye to several people and places. I'm still extant and hope you'll forgive my hastiness.

I'll delete this thread after a bit.

I was diagnosed at age 55. Others on this board got diagnosed in their 60s and later. Saying we can’t be autistic because of our age is offensive. I was diagnosed at age 57 and agree. I find someone being questioned beacuse of a late diagnosis as deeply offensive. In my case it's not like I have li...
