I definitely know the phenomena, perhaps it is related to the thing about seeing faces in things, which is called Pareidolia ^ This is the term, or a very close approximation for that PhoenixRain. Pareidolia is, "the imagined perception of a pattern or meaning where it does not actually exist....

I've heard them refered to as optical illusions. I've always been drawn to that kind of thing, where the picture is deliberately ambiguous. I went back and looked at the picture on the puzzle box later... it was indeed a lion... no optical illusions or visual puns or anything... it makes me curious...

Depends upon why you mistook the lion for a dinosaur. If this puzzle was in its complete shape, or not. and so on. If it were a picture deliberately crafted to look like two different things (like the common duck and rabbit thing) then I would call it a "visual pun". I was actually just l...

Is there a word for this scenario? Occasionally there are puzzles out on a table at work for us to play with if we so choose. Today there was a new one so I was looking at it. I then went back to my coworkers and told them there was a new dinosaur-shaped puzzle that was really cool, but apparently (...

There should be a specific department that handles disability situations that you can fill out paperwork to have on file. I do know from the fact that my father-in-law is a professor at a small college that unless it gets specifically brought up, the instructors/teachers will not be made aware of it...

Literally just got a 39% on an assignment because of this. I even tried to clarify with the instructor and still didn't get it. I've emailed the instructor asking if I can do some sort of makeup work to raise my grade (which has fallen from 100% to a C because of one assignment).

Just a short rant... I'm not really sure what to do. I got a 39% on an assignment (which dropped my grade to a C) because I didn't understand what the assignment was telling me to do. I even tried to clarify with the instructor but I guess I STILL didn't understand what I was supposed to do, she bas...

Forget about high school. It sucks for all of us. Think about the future, especially college. I do agree that high school sucks, but college also sucked for me. I could barely stand doing one semester of dorm living. I've switched majors several times, and it's taken me almost 8 years to get a Bach...

The ONLY reason I had a wedding at all was because of our parents. My boyfriend (now husband) and I wanted to elope in the forest surrounded by trees and nice weather, but noooooo my parents wanted a wedding, they wanted people to come to a wedding, they wanted the dress and the church and the blaaa...

I work full time in a cubicle. I get to do tasks that require a lot of analytical thinking (which I love) and spreadsheets (which apparently is my special interest). The things I hate about it are when people in other cubicles clip their nails at work (who does that??) and the fact that we have a sm...

It's official. As of yesterday I have been diagnosed as being on the autism spectrum (mild, or sometimes called high functioning). I think I'm still processing this information... but I'm glad I have answers. :)

I think I go out to social events a couple times a month, maybe. Other than work (where I work in my cubicle mostly by myself), and my house with my husband and roommates, I don't really see people. I try to do most of my shopping online, and only go to the store if I have to.

How do you feel? Kind of annoying to wait weeks for an answer but I guess a couple of weeks isn't too bad.

I'm feeling a little anxious... it is a bit difficult to wait for the actual results, but I suppose it's better than not knowing at all.

Like the title says, I just finished up my assessment for an official diagnosis. There were a lot of tests involved, and my husband even filled out a questionnaire. In the next couple of weeks, the doctor will be grading the assessments and gathering his findings. He said at the end of our appointme...
