Hey guys. I asked MrMark and Alex yesterday if the description could be changed. Hopefully it will happen. This is not the first time that newcomers have been confused by that inaccuracy. I think the forum should just go away altogether. It's pointless, in my opinion, if it's not to allow women a l...

Les Halles Cookbook is a most excellant book. I have a couple of other French cookbooks that are ridiculously impratical. Les Halles is the only French cookbook I've seen that 1) makes French cooking accessible to the contemporary home cook and 2) doesn't patronize the contemporary home cook by teac...

I'm more than a little concerned about the way the Ana54 thread is going in this forum. A lot of red flags are going up in my head reading the most recent posts. I don't wish to be condescending toward Ana54, but all the same, I don't think it's either healthy or productive to continue discussing th...

Happy New Yearto you too. Glad there's someone else here who watches this very fine and exceptionally relevant show! I like Tony (and yeah, all his fans liberally call him that) cos he is very much like people I've known IRL who I've admired for their life experiences and down-to-earth attitude. It ...

Old thread but what the hey. I really liked this show, but I don't think Chuck wasn suppose to be an Aspie. He's just a sort of sad sack kind of charatcer who's an magnet for sorry luck, pathetic friends and bad guys with guns. Yeah, he's a nerd. But just a nerd. He's shy and a little guillable, but...

A little late, as it's already started, but today the Travel Channel's having an Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations marathon. Tony's cool, so tune in. Later on, 6 PM or so (check your listings), they'll being airing the very touching Beirut episode that was nominated for an Emmy (if I heard correctly...

who here believes that ADD and ADHD is real? More to the point, does anyone else here get offended, as I do, when ADD and ADHD (which are unproven medical disorders) are compared to Autism and Aspergers? Damn troll. AS is no more "proven" than ADD/ADHD. Yet you claim in your profile to have been dx...

I'm a Catholic and I don't have big issues with masturbation. Another Catholic once told me, "My only advice about morality is just don't do things that make you feel ashamed." If you are doing something to yourself that does make you feel ashamed, perhaps you ought to not do it for a while and the ...

You can have all my happy thoughts. I'm not using them right now anyhow.

Sorry your soon-to-be-ex is such a prick. Just remember that you have chosen to move forward with your life, regardless to whatever he chooses to do.

I love cooking, but I don't do anything that involves sterilizing equipment. So no pickling, preserving or fermenting.

I don't have much interest in brewing beer. I would rather leave that tot he professional, and gladly buy them for the beer. :P

I'm an AS female and I rearrange regularly, at least my part of the house. I'd rearrange everything if my mom would let me. I do it because it's is an expression of mood and creativity that helps make my envionment more personal and so more confortable. I like having creative control over my environ...

Xmas sucked. All my pies turned ot badly for one reason or another, but not do to my lack of skill at making pies. That I did everything right on my end, and the pies still were a disaster only made it suck more, because of all the time, effort and ingredients ended up wasted. My mom ended up too si...

I'm bored and restless this evening, but I can't do much because my brother is over tonight watching the Patriots game with my mom. Plus I've had both a glass a wine and a pint of stout, so I don't want to drive anywhere (besides, where would I go? Home Depot to look at paint samples and varnishes??...

I have no idea what they do. I'm a Gen X'er and I qualify for Mensa. But like many other Gen X'ers who qualify for Mensa, I was too cool to be a "joiner." This is in part why there's not many people of my generation. Also I've know, a few people my age and younger who joined only to find there's onl...
