Do you say this "off-the-cuff" or do you have a reason beside your imagination to correct my statement? If you have "sources" trot them out so we all may see which "...go higher, and others may go (even) lower." Very funny, but I did not see any source coming from you ...

I'll tell you how: Experts now claim genetics only account for approx. 10% of our tendency to over eat, smoke, etc..., the rest is YOU and can be changed. If a person would rather believe instead of 10% the number should be closer to 100% they've just given up and just haven't explored all the poss...

There are other purposes as to why punishment can be beneficial, provided it's done in a fair way. There's the purpose of rehabilitation, deterrence, protecting society, and other purposes to punishment. It's not always (and should never be) about satisfying one's barbaric urges for vengeance or ret...

All the more reason to adjust our concept of justice accordingly rather than to pretend free will exists.

Science has not yet shown creation to be true. Evolution, on the other hand, is a scientific fact.

I wouldn't call it socially awkward behavior. Maybe in real life he knows all the social rules well, but doesn't do as well online. I've seen such people do really embarrassing things online on Facebook when in real life, they do just fine.

No, it wasn't clear. Not everyone is familiar with what OKC is like, and she didn't mention where she answered it. The first intuitive thought for many would've been either in the forum or by PM. You evil MCalavera, how comes you don't understand the OKC world? Because of a lack of interest to get ...

At first, I thought he did nothing wrong. Then I realized the context better and figured it out. This was not on a public OkC forum nor did it start by private message. Hale_Bopp was minding her own business answering one of the questions that OkC throws at the members, and he barged in and started ...

Sounds like an interpretation after the fact . Their Messiah ended up failing by being crucified, so they had to find some passage in the OT that would somehow support that the Messiah was supposed to fail at first. And they managed to come up with one or two. To the disagreement of the Jews of cour...

Te whole Jesus linked to Sun God worship is based on very poor scholarship (if it could even be called scholarship). Aside from a possible exception of Robert Price, no relevant expert (even outside of the Christian circle) accepts this as true. Even Richard Carrier, a mythicist, rejects it. Anyway,...

I don't think BrianRuns or billiscool are Nice Guys ™. Brian is, I think, someone with very low self-esteem, which is combined with desperation and a sense of being doomed. Not a good combination. Bill, well, just isn't very cool at all and is pretty clueless. Concerning Brian, all this is linked t...

How many of those nice guys end up stalking and backstabbing? That's not typical nice guy behavior. That's more like a psychopath who shouldn't be lumped in the same category as genuinely nice guys (even if he refers to himself as nice). That's kind of my point. A truly nice person wouldn't do thos...
