I can't say I'd be into cuddling with strangers, but if that's what you enjoy then there's no shame in that. Research has shown that cuddling can be very relaxing and helps keep stress levels down, and it can be even better if you're cuddling with someone you care about or have feelings for. Yeah. ...

I bought special earplugs for musicians for going to theaters. They don't distort the sound. They just make it weaker. I should get some of those. I rarely go to the theater, but I went with a group yesterday. SO LOUD. I don't understand how NTs can handle the aural assault. I have regular earplugs...

I actually practiced this just yesterday with someone (just maintaining eye contact for a few minutes). She commented on how I did better at the exercise than most. I didn't really feel any particular kind of connection, and it did feel a bit uncomfortable, but I managed to not look away too much. T...

I've got aspergers, and while it has it's own share of problems, it doesn't affect my moment-to-moment functioning as much as my fatigue and excessive daytime sleepiness (the latter is at least somewhat treated with medicine, though I still often spend many hours a day having to lie down... just not...

I achieved some of them, getting through college, getting a graduate degree, getting out of the parent's house... Though my career basically started at 30, so I'm way behind there. Not that I didn't have a few jobs in my field before then, they just weren't much to write home about (an internship, w...

In the last 2 weeks, I had arranged to meet with three different people. ...and all three flaked. Two of them didn't tell me until I had already been waiting for them for 15 minutes at the meeting place and I texted them to find out where they were (while the last just cancelled a few days ahead of ...

It feels weird to just knock on people's doors and say "Hi. I'm _____. I want to get to know you" but uh... where else would I start? I live in a suburban neighborhood where it's almost exclusively married couples and families. At least my next-door neighbors don't have kids, so they'd pro...

I absolutely hate dating profiles. My own feels bloated and shallow, and I feel that I have to "hide" things like my interest in computers and anime since they're, at best, things that women will tolerate (while video games is just a checkbox under hobbies... I let that one go at that with...

My parents used to bug me about it, but they eventually stopped.

I believe that I described it to them as if they were rubbing salt into a wound.

I started programming when I was a kid, earned a Master's degree in computer science, double-majored with math, and am into anime and videogames... Yep. I'm a geek/nerd (to me, the video games and anime are "geek" and the CS/Math stuff is "nerd" but I'm not 100% certain as to the...

I've always been sensitive to cold. I got really sick every winter when I was growing up (one time being hospitalized for a month and nearly died), had my feet turn purple and blistery (Raynaud syndrome) and I very clearly remember the (many) times as a kid that I'd huddle under a (thin and ineffect...

I'm likely to undergo TMS therapy soon, but it's for depression.

From the paper, it sounds like they don't know what parts of the brain to target for ASD.

Interesting thread. Please post the link to the podcast, I'm curious to hear it. Links are allowed here. I'm also curious approximately where in the world you are & how much you paid for X amount of time of a session. i.e. I wonder what other health services this compares to in cost. Massage, p...

Part of me really wants to, and part of me thinks that it would be immoral. There's too much genetic predisposition to autism, depression, and other mental illness. If I had a kid that suffered from any of the above, I'd feel like I was to blame for every bit of suffering that they went through. ......

I'm 38, male, and live in Utah, though I'm not originally from there. I've been to grad school, and double-majored in math and computer science. I own a great house on the hill with panoramic views of the valley. I've had a successful career in programming. I'm the owner of a pair of friendly cats (...
