Forum: General Autism Discussion   Topic: Was socializing easier as a kid or is it easier as an adult?

Definitely easier as a kid. I still feel like a kid socializing with adults, even now that I am an adult. People are boring, lack depth, aggressive, impatient, and focused on a singular long term goal. The average hobby is being on a couch and staring at a boring show for hours and hours, sleep at 8...

"We are not from a Wrong Planet, folks. We are from the Right Planet in a mad world." is what I've been trying and struggling to say for a long time. I interpreted this in a literal sense in a way. The natural/physical world is the truth. The human world is not. We run from reality in an a...

I'm not a furry but I like furry art (and cartoons in general) and I have a slight dislike for people, so the art appeals to me more. A lot of them feature things like romance and friendship which seem a lot more genuine than what we have today.

Some but not all. Only products can we can produce ourselves. We exchange money which we earn for everything without putting labor into producing it, and corporations often has a certain quality to their products and the capital to mass-produce it. Cars and phones could not be easily produced by man...

It seems more like they are unsatisfied with their situation so they recede to a fantasy. Since so many people do it, it becomes "normal", and a community forms which meets the needs that were otherwise unmet, like social desire or group belonging. It's unusual to the rest of us but I don'...

Forum: General Autism Discussion   Topic: How has alexythmia affected you

I don't believe I have alexithymia, at least probably not to a full extent. I definitely feel something closer to the full range of emotions personally, but I'm only able to express around a quarter of what everyone else can. I don't know how to show intimacy, even if I may love someone, and that ca...

I'm better with people that are older or younger. I'm worst with people my own age. It's very strange.

Ace as well. Mine doesn't exist as far as I know. However, if it does, I'd prefer a girl or guy who is very similar to me (in my case opposites don't attract). Someone who wants to do something new every day and is highly explorative, but at the same time knows how to get deeply involved with someth...

You have my positive energy. I don't know how to express it but hopefully it helps that I understand a variation of what you are experiencing. I've been experiencing emotional buildups for months and have no help. The best thing is to save ourselves, we cannot wait for help because it might never co...

Hard to find them, easy to befriend them, hard to keep them. The first part is society (not very many public places to go meet people randomly, people prefer being at home or work and people have become more close minded recently), the second part is due to my "masking", and the third part...

I've been thinking about how I struggle with expression. No matter how many times I repeat something, it never gets "out", it's just me rephrasing something desperately attempting to make some contact with someone. I have this problem with everything that I have to extract from my "in...

I've deleted these kinds of posts so far 6 times because I don't know where to post them, if they make sense, or how to get help for it. Those, as well as the problem itself, are infuriating. Basically, I struggle with having the technical half of my brain line up with the passion part, as weird as ...

Referring to the OP, who or what caused the stereotype? Was it the movie "Rain Man"? Was it initial reports? Other questions: so if someone is found to have math talent, or lack thereof, what accounts for it (pyschosocial developmental issues, neuronal differences, other...)? There seems ...

If you don't want to have a relationship it's aromantic. If you want to but you are intimidated then it is a phobia/anxiety spectrum issue.

Asexual is not wanting to have sex but may still want relationships and can even be good at forming them. You might enjoy dates, you might not.

I did a poor job explaining this. NT's don't like anyone who is out of the norm, including loud or talkative people. There has to be absolute uniformity in the cues of a social situation, and being quiet or loud is simply ways that the control is lost. I've been treated like s**t for being loud and ...

Yes. When I enter a public place I am very shortly overwhelmed by details. All of my senses (and my response to them) are extremely powerful. Though I cannot verbally explain what I am seeing, it is locked inside of me.
