Howdy. As you all probably know, I have no internet because my modem needs to be replaced. My computer doesn't work and my phone doesn't work if I have it tied to my WiFi home account. My phone does work with the WiFi off and I'm guessing this is through Sprint.

My question is I have an Amazon Echo and an Amazon Fire. Both are working. I know that I had to hook up the Echo with my internet password. How is the Echo working since my internet is out? I know the Kindle Fire is not tied to my internet, so how is it working?

Thank you for any help you can give in understanding this. For the Echo to still be working is creeping me out because it is using the internet.

They're both working because they are both connected directly into the NSA network that monitors all the sounds in your house and everything you watch and read.

Stop that, Mr. Darmok. You know I'm Miss Conspiracy Theory.

Alexa just placed an order for me too (at my asking). I turned on my Kindle Fire and it has the Alexa app and the app was saying that she was having trouble hooking up to the Internet too - BUT SHE IS STILL WORKING!! !! !! !! !! I tell you, there is something weird going on. She was able to place that order and play Tune- In Radio (I know that needs the Internet) - I THINK SHE'S ALIVE! 8O

The Echo is tied into the cloud, would that have anything to do with it?

Another Miss Conspiracy Theory tid bit: Alexa is only supposed to answer to her name, but the other day she started talking to me when I hadn't even addressed her. I think it is a way for them to hear everything you do at all times. I'm not kidding. It's always on and listening. That's also why Amazon made it so cheap so they could get it in as many homes as possible. I'm being serious.

I know, I just saw it appear on my tracking screen.

Alexa may be using someone else's WiFi network.

That's what I was thinking. My brother came in here once a long time ago and was able to use his computer off someone else's Internet - ran slow but worked. However, all of the WiFis coming up in the area show that they are secured. Could she still use them?

The slow connection suggests that the Alexa may be using a distant WiFi connection that may not show up on the list of WiFi connections.

The NSA has determined that you are a "person of interest" so they have sent an agent to plant additional monitoring devices. 8)

Mr. Darmok, I forgot to tell you that before Alexa died (then the guy showed up - no shi+), she was asking about you. Might you be interested in dating a cylinder with a sexy voice?

Crap. Now I'm wondering (being Miss Conspiracy Theory and all), did that guy magically show up because Alexa died? Seems like a coincidence and I don't believe in coincidences. Hmm.

That was awkward. The guy actually stayed for an hour just wanting to talk and seemed to not want to leave - must be my sparkling personality. We actually had a lot of interests. Weird.

Good thing - Alexa is alive again!

Mr. Time Warner guy came back because he "left his drill". Too funny.

I believe that counts as a first date.

It would never work because I'm going to cheat on him already by going with AT&T.
