What is macintosh OS because I've nver heard of it

What does it do?

If you mean Mac OS X, it gives you a big ego. That's about all it does.

Don't listen to Celtic Frost. He's just a douche who's trying to be obnoxious by insulting Unix and open source. Mac OS X is a Unix-based operating system created by Apple. It is fast, secure, easy to use, and gives you access to a huge host of downloadable software from the Apple website.

Try not to insult the work of the developers of Mach by referring to OS X as UNIX based when the creators of Mach hated UNIX (the kernel) so much they created Mach in the first place. I prefer people say it's a UNIX compliant system built on the original Mach microkernel based work which was later developed on by NeXT and later Apple, and has portions of FreeBSD ported into it. To call it UNIX based disregards the entire purpose for which Mach exists. ;)

For the record I use a bit of everything, including a macbook pro.

I have to use Mac with os x because of
tantrum issues that I have with windows.

If windows bluescreens, I destroyed the last computer
I had because of this, I smashed several kebords,
then finally threw the tower down the stairs, smashing
it at the bottom.

I have to use a mac now, it does not jam up and
it does video without making me tantrum.

One just has to use what computer suits them
and does not cause them rages and tantrums.

Wow, you made Mac OS X sound like a great operating system! Are you doing PR for Apple?

What's "Mach"? I never heard of "Mach" before. Say it right: It's Mac, without the "h".

You still have tantrums? You threw your computer down the stairs just because it bluescreened? Wow, talk about immature behavior. :roll: Mac is right for you, someone with an inferior IQ.

Windows is right for me because I actually know how to use a computer unlike some people we know around here... :roll:

Mach is an operating system kernel.

OS X isn't that fast. I mean, sure it's faster than Vista and Windows 7, but that's because Vista is a massive ball of fail. Linux and BSD are much faster, and most Linux distros come with a much more extensive software library.

:thumbdown: Not cool. Incidentally, about half the computer science faculty at my uni uses Macs. The other half mostly runs Linux. A pretty good chunk of the mathematics faculty are also Mac users.

Why should we continuously bash each other like kids. OSX is a very good OS that is compatible of many things. Most people who ACTUALLY do things with their computer besides gaming agrees.

hmm, I only saw one person bashing anyone in this thread so far. Though I am starting to think he might be a creature of a certain storybook variety beginning with a T. I'll give you a hint, they live under bridges.
