Which do you think is best out of these operating systems?

I like anything that is *Nix based (Linux, Mac OS X, *H*ack OS X, *bsd, Rhapsody). OS/2 Warp looks pretty interesting, but i dont have a copy of it :(. I am a windows hater, but I have to use it.

OS/2 or "half an operating system" like they used to call it :D

OS/2 was sort of nice, it had multithreading and a good filesystem (HPFS) when Windows 3.1 had...ehmm..Paintbrush. I remember IBM handing out free copies of OS/2 rev 2, 3 and Warp (4) at expos.

There is a lisp/shell mode in emacs that you can use to spawn a good text editor 8)

I just got a Linux Live CD (Knoppix). Maybe I'll try out Linux that way.

Emacs is one of my primary gaming consoles, second only to DosBOX. I don't use it for anything else.

Sorry for the late reply - I've used Crunchbang & OpenSUSE, but Ubuntu works on my Laptop really well. Fedora's not bad - the latest version is a little confusing for me, but I think I just need some time with it.
