We just installed a garage door opener with a keypad just outside our garage.

Assume that no code has been programmed into the keypad that will open the garage door. However, it can be programmed to do so.

Could it be hacked to open the garage door even without a code being programmed?

My initial thought is "no", but I am not so sure.

I am guessing it probably can be done, but the people who can do it probably aren't house thieves.

Does anyone know of a hackers forum where I could post this question?

There seem to be default codes programmed in many devices for administration and emergency police / fire access - http://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=511607

I would check the keypad's documentation, search the model number and search Youtube - most security hacks seem to inspire video guides.
