Help! OpenOffice

I worked for 6 hours on an OpenOffice document saving numerous times. Then I saved one last time and I have the suspicion the computer was accidentally shut down (deprived of electricity) during the saving. When I turned the computer on again, I was asked if I wanted to restore the file, which was not possible. OpenOffice tried to recover the file from the error but the resulting file is an empty file with no name. I tried all the recovery methods I could find on the internet (copying the file, inserting the file in another file, zipping the file and unzipping and editing the content.xml file) but none worked. Trying the last method, I noticed in the .zip archive there is no trace of the content.xml file, so I think that by being closed during the save OpenOffice couldn't finish the zipping and the content.xml file was lost. Does anybody know if there is a way to recover the content?
I know there is probably no solution if that is the case but I'm kinda desperate since it took me so long to write that file

Try undelete to see if you can get an older version back:

Plugin a USB disk/etc to restore to since anything you save can potentially overwrite the file.
Also save/exit before shutdown

i think you forget to save your file so you have to lost your all data.It is not possible to recover that data with any kind of applications. So, for My suggestion you need to type again that complete data without wasting your time.

Every time you saved it you wrote it to disk. It is likely that a version exists that was deleted.
It is a last resort.

Since I already wasted 6 hours of my time, I'm ready to waste more just because I feel challenged

You may find photorec will recover several older copies of your file. You can get it as part of the excellent SystemRescueCD.

If you want to stand any chance of recovering files, you should work purely from live CDs or memory sticks, or the data areas used by your lost file will be re-used (overwritten).

(These days, photorec is a bit of a misnomer. It was originally designed to recover lost/deleted image files. It now recovers just about any file format you can dream of.)

The data in the OpenOffice document format may also get terribly corrupted or damaged which lead to data inaccessibility problem. Users find their stored data unusable due to the file corruption in OpenOffice. To retrieve the data and use them again, recovery tools are used. There are several third party tools available on the net that can be used for repairing OpenOffice files. Using Kernel for OpenOffice you can get back all your data files.

I have never had any problem (other than those that were my own fault ) with OpenOffice files. OTOH I have used OpenOffice to repair .doc files that Microsoft Word had wrecked. I have also used OO to convert silly .docx files to .doc, so that people who are still using older versions of Word can read them.

I don't think I'd waste my time, and certainly not my money, with them - they are probably scammers.
