Ok, so, for you computer people,

I am going on a two-week trip where I HAVE to have my computer, but during the day I will have to leave it in a tour bus.
I plan on turning it off and not turning it on until it's in a cool place, but it's supposed to be 95 degrees outside where I'm going.

Will this fry my computer anyway? Even if it's off and stored away? A lot of other people are doing the same thing...

I'm just kinda worried.

i assume we are talking fahrenheit?

if we were talking celsius it would be a problem, but usually the chips used can handle 70-80 degrees celsius (158 - 176)at the very least and that is while running.

if yours is turned off or ina standby mode during the day there is absolutely nothing to worry about, high heat can shorten battery life (as in current time on battery)

Ah, well, I have a brand new battery, so I guess it's ok.

And yes, fahrenheit.

Can it hurt my battery even if it's off?

Just mean's the batteries charge will run out a bit faster this time. Eg in winter my IPad has a 10 hr + battery life whilst in summer it's around 9.5 hrs.

Will charge up again normally (No permanent battery damage).

The main thing is to leave it out of direct sunlight.

Don't do things like play call of duty in 1080p on it and if you are really concerned put your laptop in power saving mode instead of performance mode and it will run a lot cooler.

(Bottom right hand corner of the screen you should have a little battery icon that changes when you plug the laptop in to recharge, right click on that to change the performance settings)

My main concern was leaving it off while gone all day in a bus that could get hot.

That won't kill the computer by itself, it's a lump of metal and tough plastic not a baby.

If you turn it on and start taxing it in a stupidly hot environment you do run the risk of something popping, in your owners manual it will probably have a min/max operating temperature. Most chips sold today come with inbuilt thermal protection and will either slow down or shut off completely if their internal temperature gets too high.

If it has gotten really hot, when you get somewhere cooler just open it up and leave it to sit for 10-20 minutes so that it cools down and don't forget to enjoy your trip instead of staring at a computer screen all day.

Oh the trip was great! Two-week tour of Israel with a group of college students.
