I've always liked those all-in-one machines... but it's so close in price to an iMac, I'd rather go the Apple route on this one. The monitor claims to be the same specs as Apple... I can only hope the build quality is the same.

Apple comes with a better video card than the mediocre NVIDIA GeForce GT 640M though...

It's not bad though.... I'd be happy with it if someone gave it to me. ;) For my hard-earned money though, I'd go to the Apple Refurb store and get the iMac 27" with better specs and better build quality for the same money.

Problem is though, they're quite a bit more expensive for what I want. In a British context, the sort of Dell XPS One 27 is about $550 cheaper than the same iMac. It's easier to mod as well, I believe. I want an SSD drive inside it and in the XPS One 27 I believe it's a lot easier to install one than on the iMac - the 256GB SSD option on the Apple site alone $620. I can probably get a friend to install the same size SSD drive for $250.

I have an all in one computer. It's the MSI Wind Top AE2420
MSI Win Top

I've since modified it. My internal HD is a SanDisk Extreme SSD and the OS is Windows 8. I've had it for 2 years now and it works fine. I don't bother with the 3D aspect, though. I've sat through a 3D movie with the shutter glasses. It looks good but it can be a little tedious.

In my experiences the 650m is an amazing card. So I dont see why the 640 would be too far off.

I've held other all-in-one machines in my hands... there's something about BUILD QUALITY that you can feel... it's so much more than just specs on paper.

I don't own one and I'm not an Apple nut - but the Apple iMac is built better. Period.

Keep your eyes on the refurb page - you can often score those machines in 100% perfect condition and save ~20% off the price! Many refurb purchasers happily report getting MORE specs than they ordered/paid for!
