anyone else has bought avast product in the past?

i bought 3 licenses for a really cheap price.

but was it a good idea to buy?

I use Windows 8. With its built in anti-virus/anti-malware software, I don't need a 3rd party one.

I used free Avast for YEARS! Great product... MSE is great too.

Meh, MSE is better IMO. It's one of the few things Microsoft has gotten right.

Honestly, with MSE, safe choices while browsing, and having knowledge of computers, your very unlikely to get infected.
