WHAT AN IDIOT I AM.

I DOWNLOADED A PATCH FOR BitComet.

AND IT RAN A PROGRAM IN MS-DOS.

DO NOT TRUST THESE MS-DOS PROGRAMS.

IT RENAMED AND SUBSEQUENTLY REPLACED ONE OF MY SYSTEM FILES.

I AM NOW MANIACALLY VISITING THE MICROSOFT WEBSITE TO GET THE FILE BACK.

Its TCPIP.SYS .

I AM STUPID.

Chances are, it's the TCPIP patch. The TCPIP in Windows XP SP2 doesn't allow for more than 10 inbound connections. Patching it will allow more, allowing your torrents to go faster.

Thank you. Yes I did download that patch, I just terminated it when it was running, but at the wrong point. I now will use MS-DOS programs with great caution! 8)

I terminated the program half way through by accident. I am NORMALLY very computer-lierate.

I know its Command Prompt, I just prefer to use the archaic term MS-DOS. Don't ask why because I don't know...!
