So, here's a thread to share your favorite Android apps...

I'm really liking the TuneIn Radio app.... I'm a radio freak and when I'm not listening to music, I'm listening to NPR News.

I have been using NPR's app but the stream buffers and drops out/stops frequently. It can be really frustrating when you lose a stream in the middle of an interesting story...

Anyway, I thought I'd give TuneIn a try. I was pleasantly surprised to see that when I did a search of local stations, I found not only the FM channel of my local NPR station but also the other two digital channels as well!

So far, TuneIn works much better than the NPR app. I've been listening to This American Life and Morning Edition all morning with no problems!

Heck, I might even upgrade to the pro version so I can record shows...

Anyway.... TuneIn is my pick for a Radio App, share your great Apps below! :P

Cerberus lets you remotely track, lock and set new passwords, disable, take photos and have them uploaded to you, and sound an alarm in case your phone is lost or stolen. The app can inform you if the SIM card gets changed, and tell you the new phone number. It will tell you any Wi-Fi networks it connects to and the IP address of those networks. It will show you a record of where they have been. You can send messages to the phone, which will be displayed on the screen no matter what they're doing, or even if you've locked them out. You can access their call logs and message logs, and record audio and video. Also, the app is hidden from view and cannot be uninstalled by others without entirely wiping the phone. Which, if you like, you can opt to do remotely.

AdAway blocks advertising across the operating system.

AirDroid lets you browse your phone's files through a web interface either through a shared local network, tethering wireless devices to your phone, or in the latest beta through the web.

Glympse lets you send a link to someone informing them of your location in realtime, letting them track you for a duration of your choosing.

Sixaxis Controller allows you to use a PS3 controller as a gamepad. Also supports emulation of touchscreen input for games that don't natively support gamepads or keyboards.

tTorrent Pro is the best torrent application I've found on Android.

Spotify and Uberhype for streaming music; the latter for new trending tracks.

Another great app is GoogleSky...

I'm not really an astronomer, but I am a stargazer and GoogleSky is great for identifying pretty much anything you might see in the night sky.

Just turn on your GPS an hold your phone or tablet up toward whatever you want to ID! You'll get a detailed map of that part of the sky complete with names and constellations.

It's a super cool app for anyone who spends time outside at night.

Di.fm and Sky.fm for music. Has ads about every half hour, though, but good music on both of those.

Opera mini web browser. Sends websites to Opera's servers to be compressed for mobile before you see them, really cuts a lot out of your data plan.

imo messanger. I guess it's OK, multi-im client.

SNESDroid, SNES emulator.

For me noises can be super distracting--especially at time like now when I'm sharing a space with someone else....

The White Noise app really helps me to tune everything else out and concentrate on reading, homework etc.

It can play dozens of sounds from traditional "static" to cat's purring, to beach sounds etc...

Great app for tuning out the outside world!

Google Finance is another really good app.

It's free with no ads... Basically, it keeps track of the Dow, S&P 500, and the Nasdaq. It also keeps track of your portfolio in real time and has a decent market related news feed.

Simple but very useful if you have stocks and want an easy way to keep track of them. :)

I love the Scanner Radio which allows me to listen to police, ems and fire transmissions from my home town. Also I love SmallBASIC and SL4A/Python for Android to make simple programs anywhere I please :)

^^^ Cool! I never even thought about a scanner app. I'll have to check it out.

Comixology is probably my all time favorite app. It is a comic book reader/store app. Pretty much every comic publisher from Marvel and DC to Top Cow and many other obscure indy publishers can be found in the store...

I know lots of comics fans hate digital comics, but I don't. I have literally thousands of comics stinking up my garage right now... So, I'm over the whole hardcopy thing.

These days I read a lot of indy stuff and love the selection on Comixology. I'd never find most of the stuff I read in a local shop.
