I was wondering if there was a way to somehow stop that stupid ass countdown thing where Windows constantly asks you to register it in Virtual Box ? Yeah I installed the OS in Virtual Box but my Dad has long since lost the damn registry code for it :(

Also, because I have a couple of directories that's being shared to Windows in Virtual Box, I was wondering if these directories are also accessible to the home network ? Is my IP address for Windows suppose to be in the 10.0.5.0 and not 192.168.0.0 block ?

One last thing and this has been on my mind since the beginning of April, but why the f**k would Microsoft stop supporting their most decent OS since Windows 98 and 95 right after the whole Windows 8 failure ? I mean Windows 7 is probably pricey as hell and Vista is complete and utter s**t, so what the hell ? :|

Stopping support is a way to finally push people to another newer product.

You really can't blame them. Windows 7 is superior in many ways to Windows XP, and MS isn't making a dime supporting it at this point. The reality is that a lot of places are still running stuff based on XP because their systems are simple enough that anything more overtaxes the hardware.

Of course, the business/industry world might be 1 or 2 OS generations BEHIND the home/office market because their needs hardly change and they don't need a new OS unless they significantly rework their whole system while home/small office users are always getting new gadgets and toys that benefit from newer OS features.

Microsoft stopped supporting XP because it's almost 13 years old and outdated. Windows XP was impressive back in the days, but it can't make use of more than 4 GB of ram, it can't make use of shaders newer than SM3.0, and it has several security issues (with UEFI, secure boot, and driver signature, Windows 7 and Windows 8.x are very secure).

Is there anyway to stop that annoying 30 day trial thingy in Windows where you have to register or else you can't use it anymore with Virtual Box ? I mean can Virtual Box help in any ways ? My dad has long since lost the registration code for it

I just sort of figured that Windows 7 might be too expensive for people to afford, so they'd go back to either VISTA or XP ...

If it's a legitimate copy, just activate it. If it's a copy, you can pay MS to make it legitimate.

Yes, you can have a pirated install DVD of XP and MS will validate it if you pay for a license. The software doesn't change...just the registration key.
