Do you have a favorite game to play in order to vent?

Personally, I've always liked the Dark Forces series for this. In high school, I would play the Fuel Station level of Dark Forces repeatedly because it forms a giant circle and the stormtroopers respawned endlessly so it was fun being able to kill everything that moved in that game for as long as I needed. Jedi Knight was alright for this as well.

Jedi Outcast is wonderful to play when you're pissed off because of the cheatcode where you can slice and dice the bad guys with the lghtsaber. If there is a group that you killed some other way, you can use force pull to pull the bodies into a pile, chop them into little pieces, and scatter the parts all over the place with force push. I find doing this to be so much fun and relaxing.

To use this cheatcode: hold [Shift]+[~], and when you see the command prompt come down, type helpusobi 1, hit [Enter], and then type g_saberRealisticCombat 1 .

I have Jedi Academy, and it wasn't a bad game- though probably not one that I'd use to vent.
I'd go with something like.. hmm. I used to play Quake a fair bit, especially with mods and stuff.

Or (although I usually play good guys) when I'm in the right mood I have a character in Morrowind that is a vampire and can pretty much seduce anyone and force them under his will, then I can do with them as I please. Feed on them. Kill them. Make them bow before me. Convert them. Drink them dry or snap their necks...Dress them up in funny clothes and make them dance for me :D

But yeah, usually I find it really disturbing playing that sort of dark character, I have to really be in the right sort of really PO'ed mood.

That makes two of us. I still play Dark Forces every now and then.

EDIT;

I liked to play the fuel staton level for different reasons; It was the first level were one would get that cool gun from teh ugly orange guys that would decimate just about everyone in the room. . . . .and there were a lot of open spaces on that level that were absolutly crammed with angry stormtroopers and bounty hunters. . .

As far as stacking the body piles, I prefer using the Tak base (2nd mission) for that, when one jumps over that overhang right before the river, I can go back inside and regenerate all teh stoormtroopers. . .

Even though I don't play it anymore, Wolf 3D (aka wolfenstein 3D) is my all time favorite game for venting. Modern 1st person shooters work pretty well too. It is also hard for me to play a 'dark side' character, so it works best if the bad guys are unquestionably evil.

I've always found 16-way deathmatches on tiny maps in Unreal Tournament 2004 to be great stress-relievers.

"Brutal Football" on the Amiga..... Dive tackling and then stomping in the head of the helpless, frozen opposition centre forward at restarts every time before the AI could kick in to start moving him to do the same to you..... ahh, happy days...... :)

I'll second Wolf 3D.

It was the first, still is the best 3D shooter despite it's technical shortcomings.

The dark forces series is still a community I'm active in, www.massassi.net for a ton of mods.

Dynasty warriors 3, Command and Conquer renegade (Nothing like a mammoth tank to blow something up) and it used to be diablo II, but everyone there either hacks or cusses like they were just stuck with a sharp clarinet.

The games i use in order to vent:

1. Metroid Prime
2. Unreal Gold (mostly the original part)
3. DooM (the original)
4. Wolfenstein 3-D (also the original)
5. Rise of the Triad (ROTT)

I even won a small prize for a pack of Wolf3-D levels :D
