So I'm trying to back up my DVDs with copies after a few of them were found to be so scratched up they no longer played. I would opt for hard drive, but others in the house who also watch them claim they're too old to understand how to use that "technology."
So DVD copies it is. This is not for piracy, profit, etc. It's not working - the laptop claims the burning has been successful, but when I stick them into a DVD player, I get "disc error." I even tried it with an audio CD and same thing - burning was apparently successful, I stick it in a CD player and get an error.
I'm just using standard writable 4.7GB DVD-R.
Does anyone know how to burn backup copies that will actually play in an external DVD player? Or what the problem with this could be? It should have been so simple! :(

^ Does that program work if the files are already on the laptop? I can't see where it specifies - seems to deal with copy protection on ripping disks. Will give it a go though thanks!
