Kernel Stack Inpage Errors
Hi
I don't know if anyone can give me any guidance with this computer situation that I have been experiencing for a while now. I'm not sure if this particular topic was covered on the Computers, Math, Science and Technology forum before (since I hardly read this forum).
The problem that I'm having with my computer is that I get these Kernel Stack Inpage Errors. Basically it's the "blue screen of death" as some people might call it. I don't get it daily but lately I've been getting it approximately once a week. I mostly get it in the middle of a virus scan. I have Norton Internet Security 2007 with Norton Antivirus. I have no viruses on my computer, I don't have any spyware on my computer and I do maintenance weekly on my computer. The blue screen also has a stop number of: "Stop: 0X00000077 (0XC000009C, OXC000009C, 0X000000000, OX0509D000).
I don't know much about these stop screens. All that I can say they're annoying and I'm getting concerned about them.
Any insight?
Use something other than Norton, it isn't good. Go with AVG Antivirus, it's free and it's good. Spy Bot Search and Destroy and Ad-Aware for spyware, both free, having two give you more comprehensive protection. (this isn't the case with antivirus software, only use one at a time!)

"0xC000009C, or STATUS_DEVICE_DATA_ERROR: bad blocks on the hard disk"
According to the support article, the drive might have bad blocks. I would do Start, Run, type CMD, hit OK. At the command prompt type:
chkdsk c: /f/v/r
The system will indicate that the drive is in use and ask to scan on next startup. Note that this may take a VERY long time if the drive is rather large. I'm no fan of Norton products, but I don't think it's causing this error. Next guess would be re-seat the memory.
Thanks for everyone's guidance with this. From what I gather it could be a number of things going on.
Eventually one of these days I might have to get a new computer or actually attempt to upgrade this one. The computer I have will be six years old in December and it was never upgraded at all.
