The ssh trick for remote GUI apps is a nice one, since I plan on using ssh copiously to access the Red Hat workstations at my university.

Is that similar to the OSX "say" command? (That's about the only thing the OSX command line can do by default, other than basic things like mv, cp, cd, ls, etc)

I don't think I'm ever going to get a complete list of command-line programs...only up to about 300 so far. Welp, thanks for the site.

I think it's default in all debian based systems. Actually, i never knew about espeak until now :). It's pretty much useless for me though

I think most terminal emulators default to using the bash shell. I don't think I've run into anything else yet in the terminal programs that come out of the box with most distros.

Listen "Mr. I'm gonna rise from the dead so that I can terrorize the IAU so they kill the dreams of little children everywhere and Pluto as a planet instead of eating Colin Matthews' brain like any other z0mbie.", tinycore linux distribution users such as myself don't have to put up with this sort of badgering from a one hit z0mbie wonder like yourself.

Pretty much, at least AFAIK, although IIRC Gentoo came with tsch too, maybe more(?), and people had to choose what shell the user/s had.

A lot of people find it hard to be creative about the CLI. They find it hard to explain how it is useful. But there is a lot of fun in it.

AFAIK it runs the shell, you selected as default. Like the wonderful, wonderful fish. :nerdy:
