Suddenly, Last Summer.

1993 version of the Tennessee Williams play. A troubled young woman faces the possibility of receiving a lobotomy at the insistence of her aunt and mother of her first cousin, Sebastian, as the tale she has to tell of his secret life, and unimaginably horrible death, the mother wants to keep repressed.
Very good, very disturbing film, starring Rob Lowe, and Natasha Richardson.

Annihilation.
Ok. Lots of ideas. A film I have to think about. Hard movie to understand. I think I liked it.

Haven't posted here in a while, but I recently saw one movie for the first time and another movie for the first time since I purged my VHS collection.

The Dark Tower (2017). I give it a 5/10. Not my kind of movie. Didn't get all the references to other Stephen King novels until the bonus features came on. (for some reason, on new blu-rays, the bonus features automatically start once the credits are over, kinda like a VHS. :?: )

Spawn (1997). Saw it on DVD for the first time, until then, only on VHS. A solid 1/10. A really terrible movie from the year I was born. John Leguizamo was disgusting (apparently he ate real maggots and worms for the film 8O ), there were so many plot holes in it (If Spawn had to learn how to control his powers with his mind at the end of the film, how did he do all the stuff he did before then?), gratuitous innuendo that seems to only be added to get an R rating, a generic rock soundtrack, and really horrible VFX (The scenes with Malbolgia and the final battle really stand out). 21 different digital VFX studios worked on it, and it clearly shows.

I’ve been waiting for months. Not entirely historically accurate, but it was every bit as good as I hoped it would be. (Although I kind of hoped to see Nikita Khrushchev dance the hopak.) Now I can finally stop being obsessed ... maybe.

It was my second go. The first was when it was originally released. It is a magnificent film, all the way around. I highly recommend viewing it, assuming you haven't, yet.

I did see it years ago. It was an amazing film.
