Gods, it's awful. Heavy-handed black armband view of old Australia, poorly thrown together and massively stereotyped tourist grab. Christ, with the money Baz has, you'd have thought he'd invest in a history book or two...
I should hope his aim was to intentionally misrepresent history, that would simply make him greedy. Tremendous, more tourists conned into the "authentic" outback crap...
Not only that, but the disturbing manner in which the film was promoted - plenty of heavy-handed references to grossly exaggerated "White Australia" and the so-called "stolen generations".

If that wasn't bad enough, the movie itself is boring, and barely holds together! What's he aiming for? Clichéd right-proper-English and uneducated-convict-colonist love story, or wartime drama?

This is a ridiculous stunt for attracting tourists; ah, whatever did happen to the "where the bloody hell are ya" babe?

I havent seen it yet, but I had a feeling that it has been over hyped, and proberbly pretty bad. I think that where are you women had an affair with I think it was Shane Warne.

Guess I will probably watch something like Twilight or something, my mother asked me if I think we should go watch it, but I just dont get a good vibe with it being something I would like, probably seen enough of those sought of things in documentries. I wonder if there are many good movies out atm as since my siblings start holidays next week, and I wonder if my 7 yo brother would rather watch Australia or something else.
