Asperger's is isolating

How am I supposed to get excited about reading all your comments and blogs? I'm still isolated, sitting at the computer. It is too much work to try and find a confidante among you. Why do you do this?

Asperger's is not isolating. Lack of initiative is isolating.

Yes, socializing does take work. It is like anything in life. If you want it, you have to put in the work to get it. That is not an unreasonable thing.

i can only speak for myself, it is the best i can do. i am isolated at my puter also, and i suspect a substantial number of the 35,000 or so WPers also can say the same about themselves. so you are not the only isolated person.



i regret that you find it "too much work" to befriend another needy human being here on WP. to answer your question, i type here in the wan hope that somebody such as yourself might reply and we then might find some commonality of purpose or philosophy. it can be termed "reaching out of the darkness."

By reading comments and blogs by other Aspergers' people, you will better understand yourself, if you are Aspergers. 10,000's of people here, by itself is reassurance "You're not alone." I certainly feel better socializing online with fellow Aspies. Everyone needs "friends". Reading what others say about their lives, gives insight into how others' deal with their A.S., to further coping skills, and gain some sense about normalizing to whatever degree is possible.

BTW, hope the experience isn't negative for you... signing up and discussing?
As for a "confidante" -- that can be anyone, NT or Aspergers. Doesn't have to be romantic, but its nice if you can find somebody like that... in your real, local life.

I get excited sometimes when someone points out something new, like a new song or something else I haven't seen before. If you've never met anyone from here in real life, then it's not realistic to become too involved with anyone here. I come here to explore issues, sometimes to vent about things, and I also use this place as sort of a public diary, which I can use to better understand myself.

but yeah, unlike some I am Isolated for the most part in my local community, but it has mostly been by choice. The thing is why the **** should I get involved with a community whose only care in the world is partying, sex, and drugs. If you cant tell i am talking about that huge all-encompassing cluster**** we call society. My local community is much like that, currently everyone is becoming a damn meth and/or crack addict. Other than most of my friends of course, which is a group of about 8-9 people from my little town of 800 people as well as the other tiny towns surrounding this ********. And personally id rather be isolated than put up with the random stupidity that makes up the vast majority of the human race.

Because thanks to our computers and the internet, we have been able turn our isolation from a harbor into a voyage. Welcome aboard the Wrong Planet, nad.

I'm always a bit puzzled by the notion of isolation - or perhaps by the notion that there is anything else.

As long as I can remember, I've been sitting here in this Skull Cockpit, peering out the windows of these eyes, driving this machine. What can there be but isolation? Until I'm released from this armor, to rejoin the cosmic sea - the One - to merge with the collective whole...and rejoin the source - which exists in isolation.

The concept of separate individuals is fantasy, a game the One plays with itself.

That'd be you, wouldn't it? Yes talking in here is still isolated but getting a better perspective on what it is we're lacking, in neurotypical terms can help us get along in 3D.
