New recently diagnosed (and sort of relieved) Aspie
Thank you so much Richie, Brook-Lynn, Asplanet and VT420 for your warm welcome.
Asplanet: i can totally relate to what you say. It is hard sometimes in a couple situation and it can be challenging.
Although my wife and I never fight, we do have some heated arguments. I guess this is normal for any couple.
But the fact that I do know what is going on with me enables a new perspective on things. Not that I blame it on AS, far from the contrary, but it does enable me to reflect and analyse why I am doing or saying (or the lack of) certain things their way.
I'd say the hardest thing for me is to show up and make conversation in social gatherings. Even when we have people coming over at our place, may it be one or a few persons.
The general public has barely any knowledge of what AS is so people usually think that I am shy or introverted. It seldom happens that someone will try to have a conversation with me (people LOVE to talk about themselves so it works in my favour) but when they do, it is usually not for long because they either find me utterly boring or weird.
I have to go to a wedding this Friday, it should be interesting, especially that I barely know anyone that will be there.
Your far from alone there, the best advice I had from someone was surround yourself with like minded people, as far as I can I do and now find I very rarely have to play the mask game. This has helped my confidence grow and be who I am, instead of continually having to worry about the situations. But that takes time and comes with understanding and acceptance of who you are.

Thanks for the tip, asplanet. It is efforts but I am always willing to give it a shot.
Ah, Spuce, is there a really a God? I would think so, not interventionist but an omnipotent force.
But I like the concept of karma, which seems to have some impact in my universe.
People doing no good will eventually gonna get it. I've never been proven wrong on that point so far.
They tought to be clever or that their actions would have no repercussions, it seems that the laws of the universe don't agree with that.
