Does anyone here have either auditory processing or visual processing (e.g., Meares-Irlen syndrome) issues? If so, how did they affect your schooling? Did you get any accommodations for them?
I'm writing a book about autism and human rights in the United States, and right now I'm working on the education chapter. Have lots of stuff on IEPs, accommodations, bullying, discipline, sensory overload, etc., but I'm curious about these perceptual issues, which directly affect access to information. I would be glad to hear about people's experiences, especially in the years before college.

I talked too loud and my 4th-grade teachers thought I might have a hearing problem but I didn't... I heard TOO well. :D I talked too loud for stimulation, I guess I liked to hear myself talk.
