Really finding it noisy at lunch during school time

At my school, Years 8 to 10 have to eat in the hall and I absolutely hate it because its so noisy. There are some really immature people at my school who laugh like hyenas at lunch break and are really loud so this puts me completely off my food.

I have asked the teachers if they will let me sit elsewhere but I am not allowed. Has anyone got any suggestions to what I could do?

Do you get IEP meetings maybe bring it up then that it really bothers you or anything else where you get accomodatoins at school.

Do your teachers know about you being on the spectrum? Allowing you to sit somewhere else for lunch seems like such a minor thing for them to do to help you. They really should be a little more accommodating. Have you told them why you wanted to sit somewhere else? And I don't mean just telling that you hate the noise, but that it's something to do with your disability?

Perhaps you could have your parents talk to your teachers instead if they don't take you seriously enough.

I recommend the route of the normal course of IEP discussions, or your parents as advocate. Or, a third possibility, maybe a teacher you have a good relationship, and talking to him or her away from the immediate context of lunch.

Well I am at a school for specific learning difficulties (Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, ADHD/ADD and ASD), so the teachers do know about it but my mum has now said that after half term she will have a word with a member of staff about it. Hopefully once she has spoken about it then things will be a lot better.
