I've been thinking about becoming an actuary, but given that most actuaries work in banks and insurance companies, I wonder whether that's a job where people with poor social and oral communicational skills can succeed, or make it past an interview, for that matter.

Does anyone know?

I'm sure the job itself would be great for an aspie, but it might be hard for an aspie to actually get hired. It's still a position in a "corporate" environment, with its own twisted social protocols. So it might be a deal of an aspie getting passed over, not because they don't have the number skills, but because management wouldn't see them as future "management" material. Totally illogical, I know, but I've seen it happen. They often pick a mediocre talent who's more of a "people" person, than an expert who's not.

Yes, you don't need good communication or social skills for actuary work. What you need to be is good in math (calculus, statistics, probability).
