I'm considering a career as an interpreter/translator.

How high is the demand?

What training must be done before certification?

Are there any Aspie interpreters/translators
who like their job?

Depends on the language(s) and the political and economic climate. I'd say college or military training(do not wish military on any Aspie though) will work. Don't know about certification(s). Hope we have not gotten to the point that every career or job needs a certification process. Knowing the language is sometimes not enough but also knowing much about the culture will help decipher common phrases and what not. I know French but deal with 0s and 1s. Good luck and if you succeed then you can always impress people by saying that you are a translator and ask if they need any help with the language of love. :)

According to various articles, Spanish and Arabic translators/interpreters
are the top two languages in high demand.

To set things straight for anyone else considering a career
as an interpreter/translator, translators work with the written word
and interpreters work with the spoken word.

Also, Portland Community College has an interpreter training program.
It's only for sign language but may look into this
to determine what it could do for people with classic autism.

Does sign language work with people with classic autism?
