Earth and Beyond is a space-based MMO from the early 2000s. I think around 2002 maybe 2003. It's like EVE online but much faster paced and more action oriented. It was published by EA and developed by Westwood Studios. At the time it was one of the first of its kind. For about two years the game was off-line. During that time there was a group of individuals that who played this game who also knew how to program in various languages such as C++ and Java. Around 2006 they decided to band together and work on an emulator.

If you would like more information about this game visit Wikipedia and search for Earth and Beyond. If you'd like to see screenshots of the game go to Google images and do a search for Earth and Beyond. I believe YouTube has some videos.

So it's actually less of an emulator and more of a fan-made server?

Sweet! I wonder if my character is still alive in there... along with his poor Nommos (TM) Plush Toy...
