I don't like digital downloads. I want my game on a disk or cartridge or whatever in my house.

If things change too much instead of playing new games I'll sit in my house and play my hoarded collection of old games that aren't like that.

We've built up thousands upon thousands of games before this trend started.

I better get started on my old games then.

I just think it is wrong to sell a game that later down the line gets additional content for a bit of a cash in and then if sales go well, release the game with the content at the same price the original game cost in the first place.
Don't see how it's justifiable... what should happen is when they do this, all DLC related to the game should be free.
I can see a sticky thread approaching.

PastFixations, I like the idea behind the HD remakes, but I agree rereleasing a game with codes for DLC already released is foolish and a way of cashing in...but DLC overall is a great idea. It adds lifespan to games and I figured people that like repetition would love that. I only get gameplay related DLC however, not themes, costumes, etc.

I remember purchasing all of the DLC for Dragon Age - Origins and Fallout 3 as it came out.

Then the "Ultimate Edition/Game of the Year Edition/Whatever Edition" came out for both of those games, and that annoyed me, because I could have waited and picked up everything for less than half the cost of what I spent jumping on all of the DLC on the first day of its release.

Now, I make it a point to wait for the edition with the DLC already packed in instead of making first-day purchases. I learned that lesson the hard way. Patience sometimes is a virtue.

Well, DLCs and Digital Rights Managements are not too much of a bother compared to what is coming next. You do own something on your hard drive today. When I compare Civilization IV, which had religion, spies, complete social policies and balanced fighting from the start, and Civilization V, where you have to buy an extension that costs as much as the vanilla game to have them, I know that this DLC model really think that gamers are cash cows that need to be milked of their dollars.

The dark future, however, is that your computer will be a simple unit of display, and that you will play streamed games, or even lease streamed games for a period of time. This is in the close future, and it will destroy what's left of gaming, if we do not take in account the indie developping scene.

EDIT: I didn't see there was a male vocaloid here. How's your sister, Len ?

If games are rent only I will stop gaming in boycott of the practice. It'd be a huge waste of money for people like us. We shouldn't need internet connection to play games but some games force that as well...

Yeah, it's not that but the fact is paying for it for the game and then in a couple of years, the same gameplay data is on a GOTY edition... but if you buy the original the DLC still costs. It does not sound justifiable to me.

Every day I'm more and more tempted to dig up some of my old consoles. I'm tired of this crap being churned out.

Yeah, games are getting too hyped up for the same material these days. I'd love to see a good platformer that isn't a Super Mario Bros title.

I think the best era was the early to late 90s personally. So many great games came out for the pc and consoles and most of them are still playable and superior to their sequels. I see the ps2 to early portion of the current gen as the silver age. Now were kind of in a bronze age, good stuff comes out occasionally though.

Makayla, look into LittleBigPlanet 2 then. It is my favorite game ever and really took platformers to a new level! Enslaved: Odyssey to the West is a platformer/action/adventure that is quite fun as well. No all games are bad Mario bros. clones, but sadly most platformers are super simplistic.

Some game series got better after PS2 though I think, like Monster Hunter and Onimusha. Those games kept getting better and better (albeit always suffering from bad dialogue.)

I own LBP and LBP2, don't worry. Two of my favorite games of all time, right there. :D

Nice, what levels do you play the most? I tend to play the platformers and the survival challenges msot and have beenstarting to make my own levels...time consming but feels so rewarding.

And what are your hought on LittleBigPlanet Karting? it seemed like Mod nation Racers with all the issues sorted out based on gameplay videos (I have the beta but was forced in Indiana for two weeks when I got the email, still have to wait a week to play it :( )
