Was the immaculate conception mentioned in the Bible?

God did nothing of the kind.

There’s nothing in Christian theology which indicates that God had intercourse with Mary.

At the most, he “created” a pregnancy in Mary, just like he “created” everything else,

That is a nice story, but every rational person would understand that spermatozoa are required for the fertilization of the ovum...

My best guess is that Virgin Mary was simply a means to a political end...
Presumably, she was indeed fertilized via artificial insemination, possibly Joseph's sperm, and why wouldn't it be his?
Presumably, the hymen was left intact to "prove" she was a virgin...<shrug>

Simples...

Just so you know: I'm a confirmed atheist.

Yep. Joseph was "reassured" as to the "source" of the pregnancy.

At least, he wanted to spare Mary from being ostracized before he knew the "source." Perhaps he was "sending her away" to some of his family?

Errm...
I think you are taking things too literally...
What he said, she said...
I mean, what god said, she said, Joseph said happened over 2,000 years ago...
Unless you were there, I would take what is said in the bible with a grain of salt...
Ask a magistrate/lawyer/solicitor/judge what they would say about it if it were presented in a court of law...

I know...
You mentioned some time ago you were an "agnostic Athiest" I believe?
I was just pointing out you seemed to be losing yourself in the mythology...
No offense intended, m8...

I am an Agnostic Atheist. I think we debated the utility of that "title" once.

I believe in it---because I'm an atheist who is open to receiving a message from some God or god. I doubt that this will happen, though.

Understood...
I, on the other hand, am a hardcore atheist and I am convinced that will never change...
If that god guy came around dragging his feet and looking apologetic, I would say: "Too little...too late...bugger orf"...

Correct. It's Mormon theology that says God physically had sex with Mary.

From what I gather even "original sin" as such is not spelled out in the Bible. So any exemption from it for anyone is also not spelled out. Though as far back as the Second Century theologians kinda pieced the concept of Original Sin together from the teaching of Paul in the Bible, and other New Testament stuff.

Though the idea of the Immaculate Conception had been debated since late antiquity, it was not codified until a Papal Bull of 1856 by the then Pope. Look it all up in Wiki.

Wow, they sure love adding stuff to the perfect word of God.

According to South Park Mormons believe God is a physical man and when you die you become a God in your own universe.

South Park got it right. According to Mormons God came down to Earth in his true form, the form of a man. According to Mormons God is a man, just like us. Here's an animation of the event.

Makes as much sense as any other version. If god created man in his image, that pretty clearly states that god himself is a man. At least he looks just like one.

Thinking more technically on this one, if Mary was just the first woman in recorded human history to go parthenogenic it just meant God said 'Oh btw - could you pop out a clone?' from where he did some genetic fidgeting, switched an XX to an XY, etc.

Fairytales often have X-rated origins.
