The military plan to attack Iraq was probably from the 1st Bush Administration or the CLinton admin. The military planners at the pentagon constantly plan contingency plans. Heck there is probably a military plan floating around to invade Canada, though it is not ever going to be implimented. You have to give the people at the pentagon something to do, otherwise they just sit at their PCs and watch Porn all day like the Scientists did at the Nation Science Foundation.

The G.W.Bush attack plans for Iraq before 9/11 were well documented as far more than a mere academic exercise by the Pentagon.

Whether your government cares or not about its people is not something that I have experience to argue about.

All I'm arguing against here are the ridiculous conspiracy theories spewed out by people who choose not to be intellectually honest.

Your government may not care about you and many other Americans, I don't know. But that doesn't mean the Illuminati is real. Any experienced writer can make up an interesting story about the Illuminati around real people and real events and make it seem like it's a true story when it's not. It's your job to use proper discernment and judgement and not believe whatever tickles your ears.

It is not ridiculous and it is intellectually honest. I use proper judgement which is where you apparently failed.

I know that any interesting writer can write anything. Again, this is where you failed to recognise that just maybe, there is a lot more to a story that you realise before you try and discredit something.

Maybe this is just an "interesting writer" but this writer appears to have documented something factual. I am glad that I mindlessly believe everything, otherwise I may not have believed this.

Strange how thermite and thermate particles were found around the world trade centre and all around central NY after it was carried about by the dust.

These samples are still around today but the government has trouble acknowledging the evidence. Perhaps, the government planted the thermite and thermate to try and make the conspiracy theorists sound crazy?

Full report is right here:

http://911research.wtc7.net/essays/ther ... troduction

A well documented video series which covers the factual evidence about the towers itself and all the acitivies going on leading up to it, on the day and afterwards.

The Holocaust is a lie perpetrated by the Illuminati.

Yes, the Illuminati exists.

Man never walked on the moon. It was all a lie.

AIDS exist because of perverts having sex with monkeys.

Osiris was believed in hidden mythologies to have been born of a virgin and had twelve disciples in his lifetime and died on a cross and was raised from the dead in three days, saving sinners from their sins. Same with Krishna, Buddha, Odin, and so on! Therefore, the Jesus character is not original and was borrowed from those hidden mythologies.

The commies are the reason homosexuals exist.

Autism exists because of the evil vaccination tactics.

***

All the above are conspiracy theories. And just like religion, they are based on lies, half-truths, intellectual dishonesty, and wilful ignorance of the evidence that goes against them. Yet, just like religion has its intelligent members preaching it and defending it, conspiracy theories also have their own sets of intelligent and educated followers.

So what is the influential power behind those conspiracy theories. What makes even intelligent and educated people follow such theories?

Are you asking why people believe the conspiracy theories you have listed or why people believe in conspiracy theories in general?

Because some ideas that were once labelled conspiracy theories have gone on to be widely accepted as fact (eg, MK-Ultra, Operation Gladio).

I would also just like to make some points in response to the list you have provided above.

1. Although I don’t agree with the theory, I don't really see how the theory about AIDS spreading to humans via sexual contact qualifies as a conspiracy theory (as overused as the phrase is), although I suppose one corollary of that theory (that the scientific establishment also believes this but is hiding it) does. A more common conspiracy theory (which again I do not believe) is that AIDS was deliberately created as part of a biological warfare program.

2. I don't think I have ever heard anyone suggest that the commies are the reason homosexuals exist. I think instead I have heard several people suggest that the far left supports the gay rights movement for its subversive potential (overthrowing bourgeois morality etc), and that the result is that homosexuals are now much more visible than they once were. I have also heard people suggest that the increasing normalisation of homosexuality makes possibly bisexual youngsters more likely to veer towards homosexuality than they would have in the past.

3. You might or might not kow this, but it is widely accepted that there was in the 18th century a secret society that historians have called The (Bavarian) Illuminati, founded by Jesuit-taught Adam Weishaupt. A Scottish freemason and science professor called John Robison wrote a book in 1797 claiming that the Illuminati infiltrated European Freemasonry and played a key part in the French Revolution. Others have claimed the same, e.g., early 20th century historian Nesta Webster, who was admired by Winston Churchill. I don’t know how widely accepted today the idea that the Illuminati successfully infiltrated Freemasonry is. But I understand that the idea that the Illuminati played any significant role in the French Revolution is a marginal one. The idea that the Illuminati are still around today is obviously a more marginal idea still; it probably owes something to the fact that the subversive ideas described in Robison’s book (as I understand it – I have not read the book myself) are similar to subversive ideas later promoted by other movements (eg, communism) and described in other texts (eg, the notorious Protocols of Zion), and to the fact that in some sense some of these vague ideas seem to have become a reality in the modern world (eg, the undermining of monarchy, patriotism, religion and family life). The long list of influential people who are or were Freemasons obviously contributes to conspiracy theorizing along these lines too.

4. Like Kraichgauer, the Illuminati being behind the “Holocaust as a hoax” is a new one on me. Unlike Kraichgauer, I do not think that the “Holocaust as a hoax” idea is inherently anti-Jewish, since hypothetically speaking if it is correct, then we are looking at a hoax that the wartime Allies had a hand in, not just Zionists.

5. I know almost nothing about the alternative theories surrounding 9/11, but I’d be very surprised if any “9/11 truther” claims no planes hit the twin towers. All I know is that a third tower collapsed without a plane hitting it, which would understandably strike many people as bizarre. I suppose one reason I have never bothered looking into it any further is that on the one hand I do not doubt Islamic terrorism is a reality, and on the other hand I do not think disbelieving the official account would drastically alter my view of the world anyway.

I missed that one.

Yes, the need for entertainment is one factor. Some people are unable to find real excitement in this real world, so they seek it in conspiracy theories. That seems to make a lot of sense.

What about attention seeking purposes?

I think there is some truth in all this. I think there are some people who seem to want to see conspiracies everywhere, and there are certainly places on the internet that cater to them.

But at the other end of the spectrum there are people who seem to want to believe that conspiracies never happen, and who refuse to consider ideas outside the mainstream regardless of their merits, and there are groups, message boards and books that cater to these people too. For example, I know of social groups that are pretty much based around lumping non-mainstream views together (be they views on science, history or current affairs) and mocking them. I guess this is an easier way to achieve a sense of self-worth than coming up with new ideas oneself. (Also, of course, in the case of the social groups, it’s a way to meet people!)

@Codarac, it is of my opinion that they still are about and have a power influence in the world today.

If look through time you will see that these same illuminati families, most notable, the rothschilds and rocketfellers, these families have control of many many central banks and are at the top of many major corporations. they can dictate world economical events if they wish.

i was critisied for posting this before. so just as a word of caution you do not need to take it as fact, here is a timeline of the Rothschilds activities throughout the world.

True and false. No doubt planes hit the WTC, but there is no evidence of a plane hitting the Pentagon. The real debate with the WTC is if those planes were actually piloted by terrorists or via remote (fly by wire makes this very easy to do).

MCalavera wrote:

The Holocaust was real. The bodies were there. Without doubt, the Nazi machine was funded by Illuminati members. Sadly, for them, Hitler was someone they loved but made the mistake of acting out their prejudices...forcing them to help put him down.

MCalavera wrote:

True, but I very much doubt they go by that name.

MCalavera wrote:

I've seen claims from both sides, but I think it was real.

MCalavera wrote:

False. There is evidence of immune-compromising testing going on in San Francisco years up before AIDS emerged...actively seeking promiscuous gay men for "drug trials." Once AIDS emerged, all testing along these lines was shut down and never mentioned again. Odds are Patient Zero took HIV to Africa rather than the other way around.

False. Study the religions and this is not so. I thought it was interesting but any knowledgeable student of religions can dispute the claim.

MCalavera wrote:

True and false. Homosexuals have always existed, but certainly the communist influence in America wants to break down a nation by any means possible. The "free love" movement was encouraged by the communist thinkers...which lead to the sexual revolution and the rejection of traditional values held for centuries in favor of "new" ideas.

MCalavera wrote:

Undetermined. The medical community wants to call it bunk, but there is proof of many unsafe substances being detected in vaccinations, and there is no excuse for some of these contaminants. Since there is a published agenda to cull up to 80% of the population of the world by various means, I am very suspicious of new vaccinations or a push for getting any given vaccine. Especially when you see the money interests behind many of these pushes for vaccination.

MCalavera wrote:

NONE. If you've paid attention, these conspiracy theories are attributed to people with no political power and hardly enough money to get their voices heard. Rather, its the detractors of such theories who have the power and money to shout over them.

Now, could that mean that the power brokers are actually funding the conspiracy theorists to create confusion and division in the chattel they seek to control? Perhaps. Certainly WTO funding has been traced as the source for groups that protest WTO functions around the world. These groups are anarchists who start trouble so the police can take draconian actions to stop legitimate protesting in the name of public safety, so not all "activist" groups really care about an issue but exist to inhibit other legitimate activist organizations. Just as some cities send police officers undercover into legitimate protest rallies to start altercations so the SWAT team can come in and break everything up (yes, this has been documented repeatedly and caught on film).

I thought I'd add something in. Planes may not have been directly involved at all that day.

I can't say for myself if this is real evidence or not, but according this video Analysis, there a possibility that it was a different object which hit the towers.

I neither believe nor disbelieve it by the way.

The original moon landings were apparently a hoax. This is supposed to be because of evidence of multiple light sources and because an image / video of underneath the craft, should have had an impact crater. There was not really a mark on the surface where the shuttle had landed. I believe man landed on the moon second time round. I am not sure about the first time though.

No, there isn't. There is no proof. Zero proof. No proof at all. Anti-vax are a huge waste of dollars, and they cause more harm than there is good. The vaccine-autism link is not "undetermined" it is confirmed to be nonexistent. If you believe otherwise, you are a conspiracy nutcase.

Solid rock doesn't tend to easily "crater". There is no "crater" underneath the launchpad for a Saturn 5, and that's a MUCH bigger set of rockets.

What multiple sources of light? The Sun is one...and the camera itself is another. Or are we supposed to think that they took a camera into SPACE (known for its blackness) without some form of flash or lighting rig? Some of these theories rely on the people who believe them never having seen any of the footage. Like that "flag blowing in the wind" one... Anyone who has ever seen a flag blow in the wind can plainly see that the moon-flag is NOT acting like an earth flag.

There is a whole shuttle-load of this sort of toss, and it all gets debunked just as often as the 9/11 youtube vids. For every theory there is a counter-theory. Some sides are more plausible than the others. Conspiracy theorists would probably get further if some of them stopped spoofing and abusing the evidence to make it fit their own pet theory. (Remember that Con-trail Conspiracy vid that shows a French fire-fighting plane dumping its load as "proof" of evil chemical dumping etc etc?) I don't doubt that a lot of very serious issues that we really should know about get buried under a sea of mental crap and paranoid frothing.
