Brains are funny things different for each person. The brain will grow and prune neuropathways in a well random but continuous way. Even if you were able to transplant memories which you can't they would likely be constantly pruned and measured and contextualised in ways you could not cater for because peopelare individuals and their reality different to yours.
Why not just write a diary....or Religious doctrine. That way you and your monkey followers will have time to enjoy the fruits of your labour inbetween times they are "at it" with each other?

What does it mean to be immortal for you?

We can call it regeneration, like with Dr who. Its a bit like dying, and your personality will change a bit. I don't think fans split hair if this is death or continuing living. But i'll be doing too much explaining then among other complicated stuff. Immortality is a good enough simplification.

At your age, there isn't a single gram of matter from when you where a baby. Immortality isn't synonymous with standing still and not evolving. Even, you, you aren't the same with when you where a child, or a young lad. You went through some huge changes. Did the child self really died, and a new you replaced him, while inheriting some of its memories?

A clone is as good as it gets in getting close to the original. With a memory transplant, its as if you reborn.

Maybe you want to call it something different? Quantum immortality is satisfied by this scheme.

Philosophically and etymologically, yes. You'd think it was an oxymoron. AlSwearengen, unless you have something interesting or funny to say, go away.

Still, I understand where you're coming from, Quantum_Immortal. It is said that some people become immortal through fame or riches. Like Woody Allen said, I'd prefer to attain immortality by not dying.

I could, were I wanting to be rude to you suggest the same. Do you think I should?

I severely doubt you have actually understood what he is saying or leastwise not read it.
You think hat Quantum Immortal is talking about having his name live on?
It rather sounds when he is talking about living (mortally) to 120 or so (through having a good genetic makeup. Then when (read in the unlikely event of) mind transference technology becoming available that he will transfer his mind into pre-ordered human clones of himself.

I know Quatermass not so funny to you but very much so to me.
You don't find my take interesting? Maybe you should go away? Or perhaps advising people to go away is not the best course of action, even for an ex-moderator?

per aghogday's suggestion, i started a post there.

You may want to express more precise inquiry at that thread. My blog is hard to read.

I am bemused not because of your spurious trappings of quantum mechanics, but rather because declaring that you want to start a cult here is a major red flag to moderators. I should know, I used to be one.

Not only that, but I am a misotheist. I have a thing against organised religion. Even if it is a parody. 'Cos if you have enough silly people, they'll want it to be real. I certainly think that at least one Set cult in Egypt was started as a practical joke involving a mummified aardvark, a ball of hashish, and a bunch of Egyptian fratboys.

By the way I don't think this "interesting or funny" or funny. Sounded like chest beating and putdowns.

Attacking the belief is allowed in the rules, as long as you don't attack the person. And your posts have been closer to the line than mine. I was being polite when asking you to go away. And I was being honest about a misotheist. Not to mention that stuff about cult recruitment being a red flag.

Look, if you want me to leave this thread, fine, but I think that you're missing more of the point than I am. Quantum_Immortal at least stated that it was a parody cult. I'm just not fond of cults, period. But the Set cult comment was designed to show that I was trying to be funny, even when I was making a serious comment. Obviously, a failure. Subtlety doesn't work on the internet.

No it doesn't work so well and so when I was telling him that a lucky dead guy was an interesting concept, that was tongue in cheek. Yes I get the allusion to Set. It just was not very funny.
Whether you stay or go from this thread or not I am not the least bit concerned. I know you through 4 posts. You have not made that much of an impression on me to tell the truth.
You are an ex-mod, you sought to warn this guy by alluding to his red flagging and told of your past moderator status, you denounced his premise seemingly, then you wade in and "politely" ask me to leave, then you say that you support his notions. Now you explain your reasonableness and concede that you will leave the thread if i want.
Really mate, I don't care. You are a member, stay go or do what you like. It really doesn't concern me.
Myself? I will mainly hang around the PPR forums and may or may not be on or off this thread. It depends entirely on my mood and want to post.
I think maybe you had a "moment" and forgot you were a member. You don't need to feel obliged to dictate terms to me or warn Quantum Immortal or highlight your previous moderation on WP.
Hang out and go where you want and post like a member. More enjoyable for you I am sure

Ok, every one can calm down please. :D

Just forget about the issue. Don't try to determine who did what, you'll gain what?

Every one, please let the other safe face. :D

And smile.

Such are some of the challenges of moderation here!

As long as each seems to be holding his own and nobody is actually spitting ...

What happens to my other "quantum selves" is of no concern to me, as I am not them in this existence.
