The Assad regime that you Westerners love.
Assad was our good buddy during the Iraq thing, let us use his prisons for things that Abu Greb would not put up with.
This Arabian demand that we go to war with Iran and Russia for them was just too much.
It was not our boots in Syria, that was armed and paid by Quetar, and the Saudis.
We are the Worlds Super Bullies, we only pick on small people.
Iraq was a flat desert and we had ports. Iran is a mountain, with Silkworms.
In the Iran Iraq War, our buddy Saddam lost a million, and hardly reached Iranian soil.
All of our regional bases are within Iranian range.
They can close the Persian Gulf, and stop the flow of oil.
Russia has their back, and we have been shipping supplies to Afganistan through Russia.
They have the latest in Russian air defenses.
The Saudis have what we sold them, and recently offered to buy Russian arms.
Their demand for The Bomb was refused.
Saudis do not have an army, they hire from the jails for Syria. Worldwide they managed to get 11,000 for Syria.
Iran can field millions.
Worldwide oil production is up, prices continue to decline, we make better use of it.
The Saudis no longer can extort us.
They tried to buy the Egyptian army. They took the money, but are staying in Egypt.
Trying things their own way, they told Putin they would buy Russian arms, and let him keep the gas market in Europe, if he gave them Syria, for an oil pipeline. If he refused, they would bomb the Oylmpics. The bombing has started. Putin released a tape of the conversation. They took credit for all the terror bombings in Russia,
Dumb.
They are an insane desert tribe, who think they are something.
They have to buy spare parts from us, they have to sell oil at the market price.
All power is held by "The Royal Family", they would not survive a democratic election.
They are being thrown to the wolves.
Their army is trapped in Syria, being killed by Assad, The Free Syrian Army, The Kurds, and the Iraqis. Supplied through the Russian navel base, and supported by a lot of Iranian tourists on pilgramage.
There are no good guys, just smart ones and dumb ones.
It is better to side with the winners.
We do nothing about China, which has some of the worst violations in the world.
"Human rights" is never a justification to send enlisted soldiers into harm's way. Their oath is to uphold and defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic. A "civil war" in another nation is NOT their job.

I wasn't talking about the US specifically.
But if the constitution says that, then American politicians have been wiping their asses with it since WW1. And why did Obama talk about a "red line", when it turns out it wasn't a red line at all? He should have said nothing, or stood by what he said.

Obama is a tough-talking weenie who hasn't done a thing in his life.
Everyone else did the work, but Obama got Osama Bin Laden.
I don't think the west has any business trying to change these societies. Its not a task that can be achieved by outsiders, the change has to come from the inside. Even 'pushing' that change by pressuring them from the inside (economic sanctions, funding opposition to the regimes, etc) do not work because the mere 'taint' of the outsider changing things makes it fail.
Would the USA be the USA of today if the French had liberated them from England and then left the Americas? Would the British be British if the Henry 8th had not told the Pope he wasn't playing the Church's game any more and made his own version of Catholic Calvinball for his people to follow?
No. Changes that re-define a people come from within and it must be a struggle won from within.
Assad will never change and whatever nutcake replaces him (coup or his successor or whatever) is going to be the same.
The Arab Spring ALMOST succeeded. It was the intervention of the west that put the outsider stain on any internal change & progress that could've happened.
Applying Chicago race and religion politics to the middle east will not work. Cowboy Bush handed the top place to Iran.
Long term, the Russians have a navel base, they will never part with. Assad is only one that will not slaughter the Christians and Kurds.
Being the Infidel troops for Arabia did not work. Haliburton made out, our troops and wealth did not.
The world economy is more important, and the dogs of Europe are more like us, than the Saudis, Chinese, and running oil and gas pipelines through Iran, Iraq, to the Syrian coast, is something Europe needs.
They will not just sell oil, they will buy goods, a rail line is proposed, Tehran, Bagdad, to Damascus. Europe makes those parts. Syria and Iraq are in need of rebuild.
Russia buys from Europe.
The European Common Market is in need of jobs to make it work.
Our number one project should be to bring stability to our trade partners. It is NATO we turn to when things get rough.
Europe is our past and our future. learning to live well on less land, with a dense population, takes more public transportation, planned towns and cities, and a social safety net that causes people to want to work and buy in.
They out do us in health care, education, and keeping small economies running. We will learn a lot from a healthy Europe. Eastern and Southern Europe depend on a healthy Europe.
Russia is not going to overrun Europe with tanks, but maybe as tourists.
The PIIGS are well located to benefit from increased trade reaching out to Iran. They have the wage scale to produce low cost goods.
Customers are people with money to spend. We need them.
The Forever War and rising debt will not last. The Cold War is over, the John Birchers have taken over our common sense.
We can have a productive period of peace.
It is time.
