Often I hear it said that the afterlife will be better than this one, that it will be a paradise and only filled with joy and enlightenment. I find it curious that people would think this, why should it be better, I mean based upon what we know of this life why should everything be suddenly transformed after we die?

The afterlife is just mankind's way of avoiding the existential terror of death.

I believe in reincarnation/change of body/continuing existence in other dimensions.
