I voted for him because I thought he'd have a clue about how to fix the economy and also because I live somewhere that has been having problems with illegal immigrants, but I didn't expect him to cut funding for arts programs. I probably have my priorities all wrong, but I care more about art, science, and education than women's, LGBT, disabled, etc. rights. Those are important, but they're not something I feel should be actively fought for because they're already won. The attitudes toward some of those groups is a different story, but systemic oppression ended decades ago.

So anyway, it's an unpleasant shock to see that he's axing art programs, when it's such a tiny part of the national budget. It's like he has a vendetta against them.

I'm also worried about the idea of cutting the EPA altogether. The regulations we have now are hurting a lot of smaller businesses, but we do need some regulations or we'll end up causing our own extinction.

Those are legitimate concerns and well thought out. I'm sure everything will be fine. I have a feeling we're going to have a more scaled down EPA-like organization, or some other federal department will take care of minor regulations. The EPA is just so big and has so many over-regulations, Trump probably thinks it's just easier to start from the ground up.

I hope so. I may write a letter to my state representative about my concerns about the art programs. Also, I wrote one instead of won. Oops.

TRump may be the president, but it doesn't mean I HAVE TO LIKE IT! And before anyone says anything, I despised Hillary just as much as TRump. I was for Bernie until I discovered how much of a damned liar he was also.

As for the elimination of the NEA, it's about high time. Any government agency that supported the like of Robert Mapplethorpe (the so-called artist that gave us the Piss Christ) needs to be eliminated.

Why thank you, Mr. Datalis. It's always nice to know that I'm wanted here, being that I'm a non-aspie and all. That was a kind thing to say.

Are you a brother Aspie?

Perhaps I'm missing a pop-culture reference or something, but...

Come again?

Do you have Asperger's, or some other form of autism?

Ah, you were riffing thematically! I am, indeed, a brother Aspie. Though I'm since informed that diagnosis was being phased out in favour of the vague umbrella of "Autism Spectrum Disorder".

"Auties" doesn't have quite the same ring to it.

I was just watching Fox and saw Trump at his desk signing papers. He just looks so Presidential. I couldn't be happier and more hopeful. We also finally got our ally Israel back.

Reuters: Israel lifts restrictions on building more homes in East Jerusalem

Quote:
Meanwhile the housing projects approved by the Jerusalem municipality on Sunday are on land that the Palestinians seek as part of a future state and had been taken off the agenda in December at Netanyahu's request to avoid further censure from Trump's predecessor Barack Obama.

However, Israel's right wing believes that Trump's attitude towards settlements built in the West Bank and East Jerusalem -- areas Israel captured in the 1967 war -- will be far more supportive than that of Obama.

Jerusalem's City Hall approved the building permits for more than 560 units in the urban settlements of Pisgat Zeev, Ramat Shlomo and Ramot, areas annexed to Jerusalem in a move not recognized internationally.

Great. Israel is expanding into disputed territory. That can only lead to rainbows and flowers.

I can understand not not liking Trump. But mass hysteria is another thing. Like every single new policy or bill submitted, being compared to Hitler and it's going to be the end of the world and so on. Folks need to take it down a few pegs.

Seriously.

To me, it seems like my generation is so spoiled, so narcissistic, and so sensitive that any little thing triggers them and they make it out to be like their personal lives are in danger.

Guys, this is a first world country. don't worry, you can still take your selfies and tweet how angry you are with your edgy hashtag #notmypresident

I seem to recall conservatives flying off the handle about Obama, many even accusing him of being the Antichrist.

Regarding the women's march. A certain quote comes to mind.
"He disliked nearly all women, and especially the young and pretty ones. It was always the women, and above all the young ones, who were the most bigoted adherents of the Party, the swallowers of slogans, the amateur spies and nosers-out of unorthodoxy."
- George Orwell's 1984

So... you're saying you hate all women, too?

Certainly not, just pointing how they are manipulated with modern day "Feminism". The only part that isn't really accurate though, it's usually the unattractive women.

1984 was written before the rise of modern feminism.
And attractive or unattractive are in the eye of the beholden.

I guess Hitler is in the eye of the beholder as well.

One side sees him and the other just sees a dear leader

Government propaganda was still around, specifically Communism and Socialism. Both are forms of Marxism and modern day feminism embraces Marxism.
