Whats with the leftwing bent of Wrongplanet?
I assume your father never got laid off and your mother never got forced into 85 hours of unpaid overtime and you never had to go to an abstinence-only sex education course where they told you that girls who had sex before marriage, even if it was rape or incest, were "sullied", and women who got divorces were "hos"*. I assume you don't live in the south, where conservatives aren't clean-cut Ayn Rand fans like you but rather gun-toting Bible-thumpers who still use the "n" word. I assume your boyfriend's mother never banned you from contact with her son because you believed in evolution. I assume you don't have to go to an underfunded school and watch your town's natural landscape be eaten alive by unregulated developers. I assume you don't live in a city that is in the top ten most polluted in the nation.
So I'm a school kid who's not a tax victim. I hope I don't get anything like TB or cancer, because my dad's cheap-ass company got its employees insurance policies that drop anyone with a halfway expensive illness. Then I'd be a victim of something else.
*yes, "sullied" and "ho" were the actual terms used.
you assumed right, how about a description of democrats down south
It must be rough being a kid today, not like the good old days of the 60's, riots and cities burning down, tanks on the new haven green during the black panther trials, folks 2 blocks away from me in the housing project seemed upset back than after getting automated out of jobs in the factories. Crackers told them they needed a high school deploma to run the fancy new machines, was just an excuse to discriminate. Wish I had a gun at 10 years old, at least would have had a chance if the crap hit the fan.
I just kept my distance from people who wanted to kill me and you are stressing about people who think different than you, but don't actually want to kill you ? Any race riots in your school ? was in mine, not fights, full scale brawls involving hundreds of people and ambulances in a school of 2800.
I even got a nice allowance when I was 11 years old, I was allowed to get a paper route and deliver the vietnam body count to peoples doors everyday, hey my future looked good for sure, i was going to be on the front page when I turned 18 KIA.
Than the glory days of the 70's came, the war was over, gas lines turned into 11% unemployment and 20% interest rates, hey but I was a high school graduate with like zero oppertunity during the carter great Depression.
Wasn't no special programs in school which where run by tyrants and various psychopaths. Johnnie wasn't diagnosed with anything, just left to stumble threw life without a clue what was wrong.
it must be rough today being a kid, cell phone battery might go dead.
you are so lucky to know what your problem is and have access to the internet and so much information and you stress about what a bunch of bible thumpers are doing
why would I talk to my friends parents and about something like that ?
is that what they told you ? reality is they waste a lot of the funding on nonsense and the teachers are stealing the rest. adjusted for inflation schools get twice as much funding today compared to when I went
open space was the cemetary near the housing project and a strip of land alongside the highway
no it was only the toxic garbage winchesters dumped all over town with 300 houses and my middle school built on top on toxic waste, wasn't too bad unless the kids in the housing project set the town landfill on fire and the wind was blowing towards my neighborhood. People threw everything in there, was no silly enviromental regulations, just haul anything to the dump and throw it on the pile, place used to be a lake, now it's a mountain of garbage.

In his 1974 State of the Union address, Nixon called for comprehensive health insurance with the following remarks:
"Turning now to the rest of the agenda for 1974, the time is at hand this year to bring comprehensive, high quality health care within the reach of every American. I shall propose a sweeping new program that will assure comprehensive health insurance protection to millions of Americans who cannot now obtain it or afford it, with vastly improved protection against catastrophic illnesses. This will be a plan that maintains the high standards of quality in America's health care. And it will not require additional taxes."[24]
On February 6, 1974, he introduced the Comprehensive Health Insurance Act. Nixon's plan would have mandated employers to purchase health insurance for their employees, and in addition provided a federal health plan like Medicaid that any American could join by paying on a sliding scale based on income.[24][25]
The AFL-CIO and the United Auto Workers lobbied to kill the plan,
and jimmy carter gave us 11% unemployment 20% interest rates, deregulation and Paul Volcker
Ted Kennedy gutted the mid 80's immigration bill of employer enforcement provisions and gave us 20 million illegal immigrants.

It was so much harder when I was your age, Billy. I had to walk twenty miles to the general store to buy flour in the driving snow. Flour was a nickel then. That's another thing that's wrong with kids these days; everything's too damn expensive! My Bengay's gone up to. . . wait. . .GET OFF MY LAWN, YOU WHIPPERSNAPPERS!
you trivialize my suffering, I trivialize yours

what suffering, I was a white kid living in a subdivision in America, had a roof over my head, food to eat, wasn't cold & hungry a day in my life. Yet there was still problems in the country and lots of them. Pointless stressing about stuff I can't do nothing about.
stop reading & watching the news if you are going to take it so serious, the world is a joke, laugh at it or drive yourself nuts stressing about what all the a-holes on the planet are doing.
count your blessings instead of dwelling on the negitive, 6 billion people on the planet, being a battered America beats most of their lives. If you where an 18 year old poor kid working 16 hours a day 7 days a week in a chinese factory, you would have it rough.

My impression is that Wrong Planet has a disproportionate number of libertarians, not liberals. However, I am a far-leftist (commie, Marxist, etc.).

You are certainly correct if comparing to the average population. And I think that this is likely true, a very unscientific poll I did a while back shows the distribution of WP's ideologies on the PPR board to be as such:
Authoritarianism
3% [ 1 ]
Conservatism
6% [ 2 ]
Progressivism
13% [ 4 ]
Libertarianism
34% [ 10 ]
Anarchism
24% [ 7 ]
Other
17% [ 5 ]
Total Votes : 29
It can be argued that such a large number of people "other" and "anarchist" ideologies can cause issues in analysis as the lean of their ideologies can be unknown, but still 34% of a population identifying themselves as libertarian is rather high, especially given that some of the anarchists and others are likely libertarians as well.

I would suggest that there are different types of liberatarians (though I am neither): critical libertarians and knee-jerk libertarians. If one eliminated all the knee-jerk libertarians, I suspect that the number of libertarians would diminish substantially.
I am not convinced that any one social construction, considered critically, is more "aspie." However, a knee-jerk libertarianism might be appealing to some aspies for a variety of reasons, including a presumed lack of empathy (theory of mind).

I suppose depending on the definitions, I would argue that the number of any people in any political orientation would decrease if the knee-jerk members decreased.
I doubt that is necessarily it. There is a small number of conservatives within Aspie circles and a larger number of libertarians, more of the phenomena would likely be explained by aspies tending to be socially liberal than their tendency to be less empathetic as this group is likely not much worse than knee jerk conservatives.

Yes, but among aspies, I suspect that the most attractive knee-jerk position may be libertarianism. The word "liberal" is used to too many different ways. Some of them (like economic liberalism) are what most people would think of as conservatism (classical liberalism).
Well, short of conducting a social survey, there is no way to know for sure. However, I have never come across, on any other message board, the same numbers of libertarians I have seen on Wrong Planet and other aspie-focused forums.
