No, it has some good points, some funny points, but overall, I wouldn't sign it. I'm on the outside, looking in.
I don't get it. I didn't read it all though.

It's a load of crap, through and through.
- It repeatedly mentions God (I am nonreligious).
- It sets up a strawman of the "white, menopausal, mendacious men" (never mind that is it is biologically impossible for a man to experience menopause since he never mensed in his life)
- It grossly abuses scientific terms like genetic, evolution, mutation, and neurological in ways that don't even make sense if you actually know what they mean (e.g., "neurological bonds"; last time I checked, all my neurons were connected to others only in my own body); I really think they just threw the word organic in there because of the current popularity of organic foods, especially with the New Agey type that this declaration was obviously meant for
I really don't know who this "Timothy Leary, Ph.D." is (the Ph.D. really lends it a fuller sense of expert bullshittings), but he strikes me as some kind of borderline psychotic.
that's not bullshit, Timothy Leary does have a PH.D. in psychology. He actually participated in MK-ULTRA, both in terms of doing the research and being a voluntary guiney pig. I have to lol as he said he learned more in one night of tripping LSD than all those years he was in college.
about him being borderline psychotic he might have simply been high at the time of writing it or his writing style and personality was influenced by the druge he took...then again he was different to begin with so
EDIT: and the references to "God" are just him ripping off the Declaration of Independence
he's referring to the mental bonds between people actually. He did not mean it literally but as a synonym of mental connections. the entire document is written in those more abstract terms.
this dayes WAY back before that rise-back to the 1960s when he wrote that, before the rise of the 'new-age' beliefs and back to the original 'hippies'.
he said
"In their lust for control they have set up systems of compulsory education to coerce the minds of the children and to destroy the wisdom and innocence of the playful young."
the US Public School system (based off the Prussian Model) was made for that purpose, to train workers to take up factory jobs and be obedient to authority and/or be soldiers to join and fight in wars....see the inter-school rivalry in teams in HS
it's from the 1960s IIRC, it was a declaration against the Vietnam War and the whole capitalist system of the "Western World" to be used by the counter-culture at that time.

if you ignore the abstract use of some of their terms and the like, a lot of it is right so probably yes..

Wait, is this a real document? Please can someone explain this to me?

Oh my...I forgot that so many people here take things way too literally. It's not a real document sillies. It's philosophy about humanity in relation to government and religion. Timothy Leary believed in God but not religion. It's sad that so many people no longer believe in God. Thank organized religion for that.
Timothy Leary lectured at Harvard, he had a PhD in psychology. He believed in the beauty of humanity and was against the destruction of our core values for greedy purposes. Technology is great, everything can be used for good but unfortunately it's often used for destruction.
Thanks for the I met the Walrus video.
Hugs and Kisses to Warsie! ![]()
