The way I see it, intelligence and all the rumors of Trump's connection to Russia have lost a lot of credibility. The fact that they even considered that dossier might be legitimate and presented it as part of an intelligence briefing, lends to concerns of many that they are too easily fooled by counterfeit material intended to frame both Trump and Putin. And too anxious to leak it to the media.

I think both the CIA and the FBI have acted in a questionable and disruptive manner regarding the election process, against both Trump and Clinton. I think some resignations and or firings need to take place across the board.

I wonder if this former MI6 agent connected to the bogus "Russian" dossier, who's currently in hiding, is also connected to the the DNC hack, that like the dossier, might have been made look like it was from Russia, to sucker US intelligence. If something like that turns out to be the case, a lot of people, including congressman John Lewis, are going to owe Mr. Trump an apology.

New York Post: Bob Woodward Calls Trump Dossier "Garbage"

Quote:
“The best obtainable version of the truth is that the chief intelligence officials of the United States of America saw this material, thought that it deserved investigation, thought that it ought to be brought to the attention of the president of the United States and to the president-elect,” Bernstein said during a Wednesday panel discussion on CNN’s “AC 360.”

It is interesting that Woodward and Bernstein are on opposing sides on this issue.

I'm sure Trump didn't need a dossier to know that there is blackmail material out there. Someone who behaves as he does is bound to have left evidence somewhere. It's only a matter of time before some past actions comes back to bite him.

I haven't seen Carl Bernstein commenting on the subject. Do you have a link?

To me the issue is how untrustworthy and or incompetent the current CIA and FBI administrations seem to be. And how there's a former MI6 spy out there who's been manufacturing fake material meant to look like it's coming from Russia.

Bite him how? Unless there's a porno tape featuring him, animals, underage immigrant boys, etc, I don't see what could possibly damage him in light of how much has already rolled off of him.

Forbes: There Are 'Impeachable' Claims In That Trump Russia Memo, But Are They True?

Quote:
Amongst the claims from those uncorroborated sources are alleged collusion between Trump surrogates and Russian intermediaries around the infamous hack of the Democratic National Committee (DNC), believed by the U.S. to have been ordered by Putin's regime.
...
Trump's lawyer Michael Cohen also used Twitter to deny allegations that he visited Prague to meet with Kremlin officials in August 2016 to discuss matters around Manafort's supposed ties to the pro-Russian former Ukrainian prime minister and president Yanukovych.

I agree that the Russian prostitute material would not bother Americans, but collusion with the Russians would be a different matter.

The key words have always been and continue to be, "claims" "uncorroborated" "alleged" and "alligations". This whole thing looked fake to me from the beginning starting with the first report I read concerning the DNC hack. That it looked too much like something created to look like it came from Russia, for those gullible enough to buy into it.

None of this is likely to be genuine, which is why it will always be earmarked with terms such as "alleged" and "uncorroborated", until it's all finally recognized by most as counterfeit.

Any further stuff of this nature, is just going to automatically appear bogus. Russia made it clear they have nothing on Trump. So if they suddenly presented something, they already admitted that particular something would be fake.

The hack and the dossier were very likely both engineered to look they were of Russian origin. And who would be better equipped to pull off such hoaxes than a former MI6 agent?

Bernstein last week appeared to endorse inclusion of the blockbuster claims in the briefing, after Trump denounced CNN’s reporting as “fake news.”

During a Wednesday appearance on SiriusXM radio, Bernstein also said: “It’s not fake news, otherwise seniormost intelligence chiefs would not have done this,” according to a tweet from host Michael Smerconish.

I saw it eventually. His reasoning seems based in faith. If seniormost... Hold on a second. "Seniormost" isn't even a real word. But anyways it's the attitude that if chief intelligence officials say it's true, it must be so, even though it's an obvious forgery cooked up by a literal spy. My conclusion is we need some new chief intelligence officers. At this point Inspector Clouseau would be an improvement.

I'd say this was pretty clear from the beginning. The CIA or someone else leaked this bogus document because they wanted to get back at Trump, Democrats have gone off the deep end about Russia. The biggest swamp there is in DC is our 'intelligence agencies', am I the only one that is like WTF when they casually say "our 17 intelligence agencies"? Trump is very brave to be standing up to these dangerous people, what is it with the media trying to play it up like the CIA is some sort of trustworthy institution? It is a spy agency, it is by it's nature lying and secretive. So what does the CIA actually do; well they lie of course, they themselves interfere in foreign elections and foment civil wars abroad, they fund their black budgets by controlling drug trafficking into this country, they kill presidents. Lie about WMDs in Iraq, lie about some random Youtube video being the reason our ambassador to Libya was murdered, lie about mass surveillance of American citizens, and now they lie and beat the war drum with Russia. Stop being fooled by media propaganda! Remember how the media is complicit with our military industrial complex, they waged a propaganda campaign to get us into Iraq based on nothing. They have zero credibility or trustworthiness.

The worst part of the media attack to me is how Trump is basically being called a bully to the poor CIA and hurting their feelings. There was that sad faced director of national intelligence talking about Trump disparaging them, like he was all butthurt over it. They went one step too far with this hoax and now look like fools in my opinion.

I'm waiting for them to next claim the ex MI6 agent was hired by Putin or some such nonsense. Putin doesn't want hostile relations with the US and Trump doesn't want hostile relations with Russia. But it seems there's several in top positions who want to start another Cold War, or worse.
