I know that this event is almost three years old now, but I just had to comment on it.

For those of you that are curious about this whale in question, (Tilikum), I would highly recommend watching the documentary, Blackfish.

A lot of people, (myself included), believe that Tilikum's past may have had something to do with his aggressive behavior: he was stripped from his family at two years old, abused by two orcas at Sealand of the Pacific, deprived of food whenever he didn't preform any tricks correctly, and forced into a dark confined warehouse for about two thirds of his life.

The only reason that SeaWorld really keeps him around is for their breeding program, and that alone just feels very wrong to me.

As for Dawn's death itself, I felt very sickened at how they blamed her for it, making up stupid excuses on how her ponytail was "distracting."

I'm not total anti-SeaWorld, but let's just say that it's going to be very difficult for me to see another Shamu show again...

Wild orca whales aren't known to "kill" humans; in fact, there actually isn't any documented cases of humans being killed by wild orcas.

The only time these instances have ever happened is whenever they're in captivity.
