Cali mom tosses baby from parking garage

This is a perfect example of why some people shouldn't have kids.
Agreed! The weird thing is that this occured right outside the Childrens' Hospital of Orange County in the parking structure. Last I heard, he was in very critical condition. Very sad situation for this baby.

Another media outrage about a mom doing something horrible to her child. But I am still certain bad mothers are the exception, not the rule. You never hear about all the mothers who are good, loving, and caring towards their children every night because who would care about that?
On the other hand, I do think parents are a lot more clueless these days since they're supposed to accomplish so much else before even thinking of raising a kid (finishing high school, going to college, getting a job, etc. etc. etc., and etc.)
I am not defending her actions in any way but this is clearly abnormal, possibly mentally ill behaviour.
Just last year in the UK we have had 2 cases of women becoming so mentally unstable following marriage breakdowns that in both cases they killed ALL their children.

That kind of thing is all too common here in the US. Unfortunately, not everyone is clearly parent material. Nothing has been said about why the baby was dropped off a 4 story parking garage. If she needed help, why didn't she ask at the hospital? She was right there....what ever her reason for doing it. It could have all been avoided.

True enough, Cosmic. But where was her support, family who knew her? Someone must have noticed if she was acting odd. Not condemning this woman...just that our system here needs tweaking badly. People often know something is wrong but choose to ignore the facts. They think ignoring them will make the situation go away. Sucks for the baby though...he didn't deserve to be dropped 4 stories.

That woman shuold have asked the hospital for help. There's a lot of that going on in America. It happens around the world but it seems to happen more in America.

Apparently, the baby had something wrong with him, & his mom never accepted him with the disabilities. Sad for the baby. He was taken off life support a few days ago, & died from his injuries.

And this is why I am for parents leaving their partners and child when they can't handle it being special needs and why I am am for giving the baby up for adoption because of special needs. It drives some parents into insanity and then kill their child.
I always find it interesting now that when a parent is sad or stressed out with their baby for whatever reason, it gets blamed on Post Partum depression. Doctors will say that or other women.

League Girl, I do agree that it's not a good idea for anyone to leave a mom with these symptoms home alone with the child(ren) in question. The only thing is there's no guarantee that an adopted child will not be abused for any reason. This is not the thread for this discussion, btw. Just saying...adoption does not necessarily prevent abuse as horrible as that sounds. There are plenty of examples: "Mommy Dearest," & the death of a young adopted girl in NYC some 15 or so years ago. I experienced this myself being adopted by an abusive couple.

The baby died several days ago. Last I heard the mom was committed and being kept restrained to protect her from herself and ICE ordered an immigration hold on her. She was probably already nuts and postpartum depression was probably a factor, but to have a really epic family crisis you need alien invaders involved. Why don't they just let her kill herself and save us the trouble of a trial, commitment, or possibly a deportation hearing?

we are a country of 300 million so many odd behaviors will be magnified 10 fold, certainly against our neighbor to the north with only 10% of our population, or any neighbor across the pond with a 4th of our size.
