This is no ACTA or SOPA

A battle for Internet freedom as UN meeting nears

Quote:
WASHINGTON — Secret negotiations involving dozens of countries preparing for a U.N. telecommunications summit could lead to changes in a global treaty that would diminish the Internet's role in economic growth and restrict the free flow of information.

They want to stifle the internet, and again, you will have no say in it.

You have favorite videos to watch on the web? Better save them to a disk. Pieces of information and history important to you? Save it. Saving things you think could wind up being illegal in the future, and that could be a lot of things, considering our future looks like it's going to be ruled by corporations.

Under PepsiCo/Kraft/Coca-Cola/Nestle we trust.

the supreme court is going to decide soon about whether or not to overturn "first sale doctrine" which means that if they decide to do that, it will in effect become illegal for anybody to sell anything they have purchased, to anybody else for any reason or even to give it away to charity, as long as it has any foreign-sourced materials inside of it.

If I had it my way the US would be out of the UN and the UN would be out of the US NLT tomorrow.
I wonder how well they would fare bereft of all US support.

Tor was created by the US Naval Academy.
The Utah project will overpower current encryption.

Took me 5 sec to find that.
You, too, can look things up on the internet, you know.

So, are the global corporations the only thing the UN will respect, from now on? At least, that will not work properly against "pirates", they will fool their stuff anyways. And the only one that is going to suffer, will be, as always the average Joe.
