When I think about it, I suppose its surprising that such injuries aren't more common in football, especially pro-football.

I hear that NFL is one of the most dangerous sports for your body, many guys get messed up for life from it.

Very sad and it is surprising this doesn't happen more often.

That's good.

I don't pay attention to football, but ever since Steve Courson died (ex Steeler who was killed by a falling tree) I feel more of a connection with hurt football players. I knew Steve from the ball - he was the big, scary guy, who would always stand in the doorway of any store I ducked into to avoid walking past him, and then say Hi when I came out. I imagine he thought I was a fan and avoiding him because I was too embarassed to approach. Wheras before someone told me who he was I was picturing him as a drug dealer/mass murderer because of his size.

I ran into one of my old college roomates and he was telling me that one of his old footall injuries had started to become arthritic, in the last few years. He said that the doctors recommended fusing the bones in his neck to relieve the pain. He wasn't to keen on the idea and added that many of his friends were having similar problems from thier old football injuries. It makes me wonder what the NFL All-Stars of 1975 would look like today?
