Quote:
Japan started the war against the U.S. The use of any weapon against a city with military personel in it and anti-aircraft can is perfectly kosher. The Geneva Convention in 1945 did not forbid nuclear weapons. The U.S. killed more civilians in the March attack against Tokyo using conventional incendiary bombs on Tokyo. Sixteen square miles of Tokyo were burned to the ground in the largest man made fire storm ever produced. 125,000 died in one night and 1.25 million others were de-housed. So what is the problem? We killed nearly one million Japanese civilians in the course of the Pacific war. Nearly one million German civilians were killed by air attack in the course of the European war between 1940 and 1945. It was done with high explosive and incendiary munitions. So what is your problem?

I never said the use of the nukes on japan was justified or unjustified

It shows a frightening lack of logic for a country to prevent another from having nuclear bombs because they "might" use them, when they themselves are the only country that has ever used one.

Noone is preventing countries from having aircraft for pseudo-humanitarian reasons

The long and short is they deserved whatever happened to them.

Civilians never deseve what happened to them.

Many of the worlds political problems are caused by countries sticking their noses into other people's business, this isn't just directed at the united states, most western countries are equally guilty. America has been using economic measures against communist/former communist states for the past 50 years. It's all well and good saying that said countries did not want to be part of the international community, but the truth is they have been forced out. Arguements/disagreements are always two-sided, and solutions likewise are two-sided. If military action is used (a one sided solution), it will just create different problems, like it has done since time began.

Oh and the taliban were brought into power with american help, al-qaeda is the force they are today because of american help. This is why you need to treat everybody with respect, otherwise things come back and bite you on the ass.

Actually, the Taliban were formed by the Afghans; sort of a Frankenstein's monster combo of Neighborhood Watch and the Moral Majority. If anyone can say they were responsible for them, it would be Pakistan's ISI.

Throughout the Russian occupation, the ISI strictly controlled all access to the Afghans, both contacts and materials. The book 'Charlie Wilson's War' shows that part of it.

After the war was over, we left, and the whole country dissolved into a multiipolar civil war. The Taliban promised to make the trains run on time, and the people said 'ok'. Afterwards, they wound up in the unusual position of being considered 'too extreme for the Iranians' (imagine that...;)

Much of the current Taliban (don't know the exact translation, but it's something like 'seminary students') are just people who are paid to fight. We'll see how it goes...
